Dwarfenegger -> Having wisdom teeth out (May 8 2008 19:39:37)
To cut a long story short, I need to have some wisdom teeth taken out.. Not bothered about being knocked out for it or owt like that, just want to know how long afterwards does it hurt for, and can i continue training once the anaesthetic has worn off (day or two later of course)????

Apart from a bit of bleeding afterwards I don't remember there being any other issues. I don't know how long it takes the anasethic to leave the system though.

I had four taken out at the same time. It hurt like a bitch and I was on a diet of soup for 3 weeks. I also looked like a boxers punchbag.

Bunch of girls lol, my wife had 2 taken out, on the form she had to fill in it says for an adult to be with them for 12hrs after you have them removed, she was fine a few hours later so should be ok for gym the next day.

It's not the procedure that bothers me.. It's the afterpain and inability to train.. after reading this, there'll be neither so 'rock n roll'
Incredible Bulk -> RE: Having wisdom teeth out (May 9 2008 9:10:55)
2 guys a work have had them done recently... they had to use a chisel to take out the prongs of the tooth and left gaping holes. one guy didnt eat solid food for over a week, the other had a jawline like jabba the hut afterwards.
enjoy [:D]

I had to have my jaw broke to get mine out...
Not pleasant at all but what a relief when they pulled them out...
john_cappa -> RE: Having wisdom teeth out (May 9 2008 10:28:17)
dont train for a few days after incase you burst the "scab" in your mouth and end up with a dry socket, let it heal! train the 4 days coming up to it then take a few days off, eating will also be awkward

I was exactly the same as Power Junkie: 4 out at same time, put in a wheelchair with a bleeding gob full of gauze when I came round, head swelled to a ridiculous size, couldn't open mouth for a week, and when I went back to work after a fortnight I got a written warning for being off! Happy times.
Dwarfenegger -> RE: Having wisdom teeth out (May 9 2008 14:46:24)
As horrific as some of these stories are, nothing can be worse than the pain i've been suffering with for the last week and a half... It's horrrendous. And eating is not at all pleasant either...
Leecobrasec -> RE: Having wisdom teeth out (May 9 2008 14:55:22)
i have also had 4 out in one go, I heard all these horror stories before i had mine done. I felt very little pain after to which a pill got rid of it. My mouth hardly swelled up at all, to be honest i doubt you would of noticed i had them out. The only thing i can honestly say that bothered me was the injection to put me to sleep and that is cos i do not like them anyway, and the stitches in your mouth they dissolve over a period of time and you end up spitting them out every now and again eww.
Other than that I think alot of the talk i heard was ruibbish.
