eddie182 -> Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:03:12)

In terms of progression. We all train legs and train them hard however i'm just wondering if people monitor/care about the growth of their legs as much as say their arms/chest etc?

I ask this because almost everyones avatar on pretty much every bb'ing site i've seen is an upper body shot. And when posting progress pics it seems people put much more emphasis on posting loads showing their back, arms, chest etc but only 1 maybe showing legs.

Also how many mens health mags show legs on the cover, and also when the papers talk about certain celebs having an amazing body all the emphasis is placed on the size of their upper body and no talk about or pics of legs.

just t -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:09:05)

my legs are far more important to me,
im not an aesthetic guy tho

Jake -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:13:44)

In a word, no. In three words, no they're not.

Scott32 -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:15:07)

Yes but i class myself a bodybuilder so it the whole package thats important, if i didnt have these aims i think i would train them once a month if that.

Firearm -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:15:53)

Yes.

jack5r -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:16:42)

Nope.

theiopener -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:17:04)

thats because its what you see in the mirror most is upper body

Most people dont have a full body mirror [8D]

I think personally my legs overshadow my upper half

ElfinTan -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:17:19)

Absolutely!!!!!! Can't build a house without good strong foundations!

drab4 -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:18:01)

Arms (all of the arms, not just upper arms!)
Shoulders
Back
Neck
Legs (all of them)
Pecs
Glutes
Abs

In about that order of importance for me. Not that I'm overly bothered about any one bodypart, it's the whole package that counts. But an evil looking pair of arms attached to huge shoulders impress me hell of a lot more than a nice pretty set of pecs and abs. Put it that way

daveshow -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:32:03)

yes because they are really skinny and I constantly get slagged for them they are not super important but I'd like them to be bigger and more proportioned so i try not to miss a leg work out.

kitty -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:39:08)

The whole package is important to me as I compete. Even if I didn't I'd never dream of training upper half only, makes no sense whatsoever, each to their own but I think it looks daft seeing a guy with a great torso supported by skinny legs.

Lord Monkcheese -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:41:28)

NO

I train purely for aesthetics but still work equally hard on my lower body as I do upper, because that's just my training mentality.

My legs are pretty weak so at the moment I don't care too much about them. I've only really started squatting properly this year and if they get more developed I'll probably start to pay more attention to getting them bigger.

3-style -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:42:26)

I care about upper body more, its drilled into the vast majority of trainers and if you asked a trainer which they would choose, a muscular upper torso or a muscular lower torso - Im pretty sure the answers would be upper!

I do however take pride in training my legs and recognise the importance. Hence the reason i posted up a shot of my wheels recently, Not many do that when posting pics.

stavross -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:44:42)

I train my legs hard but i dont care if they never get any bigger. I do want bigger arms, shoulders and back though.

Ouch -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:45:49)

Nope...

Jake -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:58:15)

Ouch do you compete?

James21 -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 21:58:46)

yes i work both just as hard. Legs and Back are my two favourite workout, then shoulders a close second.

I can never be arsed training my arms directly and i hate working chest [:@]

Guy at my gym who works out when i do he has great condition very dry and lots of vascularity good size as well,(never seen him train legs) then i saw him today with shorts on and it was awful his legs looked like a little boys they were terrible.

I was really shocked, alot of guys at my gym dont train legs i never have any problems using the leg press, leg exstention machine etc. Most have naturally 'chunky' (not muscular) legs so they do not look too out of proportion.

Imo my shoulders and quads are two of my strongest points. I guess that shows as i love working them.

eddie182 -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 22:04:40)

I personally do care about developing all over. However I sort of use my legs by training them hard to get more GH production to help my upper body. I wouldn't say it bothers me hugely if my legs dont grow after 2 months, mostly cuz I find it difficult getting good fitting jeans as it is. lol

anz3001 -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 22:11:06)

i would love to have a decent pair of legs, however at 26 inches im already struggling with jean fitments and secondly i hate squatting (that doesnt mean i dont squat, i just dont enjoy it)

zooma -> RE: Do you care about legs as much as upper body? (May 8 2008 22:13:58)

My legs/calfs are very important to me. I've heard so many negative comments by my female friends of how guys always have built upper bodies and chicken legs. Also my legs grow pretty well and I'd love to have some massive sprinter style legs.
