I think there may be a resolve for this, Dan Henderson was asked to fight at UFC 85 and said yes but he was set to fight Rich Franklin who said he couldnt make the turnaround from from UFC 83.
If Leben cant make it i hope Henderson would replace Leben

Wasnt it from DUI offence.
This must have been one of the toughest events for Dana White to sort out, cant remember last time when both fighters scheduled for main event pulled out

Jason Day is fighting Bisping. Never heard of him, but found his fight from UFC 83 and he looks good!

There would have been bigger tests out there such as Demian Maia but then they would have put two of Dana's 'future UFC guys' in the octagon too quick
Day beat up Belcher bad so hopefully produce a good fight with Bisping

Maybe Maia didnt wanted to step up on such short notice? With Day having only recently fought maybe he feels he doesnt need as much time to prepare, espec as his last fight didnt leave the 1st round.
but i do agree with you and Dana prob not wanting to put them together too quick
