i sent a 1st class recorded letter to apply for a license 10 days ago and it still hasnt been signed for. Starting to worry alittle now as the letter contains alot of personally details including passport numbers, national insurance numbers, names, address etc etc rang royal mail and being their helpful selfs told me theres nothing they can do, they 'cant' track the item in their depots, only tell me when someone has signed for it. Had the nerve to tell me i used have sent it by 'Special Delivery' to which i replied saying i thought 1st Class Recorded was more than enough to get a simple item to A to f~~king B! Ive been in touch with the ppl i sent the application to and they said they havent recieved it yet, but there is abit of a back log so told me to ring back next week. i was looking at the address to which i sent the letter and its a PO Box address. Because its a PO Box address does this mean that there wont be anyone the other end to actually sign for it? The letter is delivered to a Box, then that company picks the mail up from there in bulk so to speak, not signing for anything?

tbh mate, i wouldnt send anything personal less than Special Delivery but there is no saying that wont get lost either recorded signed for items need to be collected from po box addresses with 7 days or they will be returned to you, its upto 2 weeks for Special delivery items i think

If it wasnt delivered then it should have been returned or something telling me so when i enter the tracking code. last time i ever use Royal Mail for anything. Useless company that deserves nothing

I wouldn't panic, but be prepared to start dealing with the possibilities. I've had quite a few items recently sent by me, or to me, that were sent using the same signed for service. They were delivered, just not signed for! A few of these things were ebay purchases so I (or the recipient for the stuff I sent) so easily could have claimed I never got the item and got a refund from the person who sent it...

Sorry to hear about this mate so if i was to send a letter by first class post and anothr by special delivery, they would stay together the whole journey? then the special just gets signed for and the other gets posted?

i think he was saying that Recorded mail travels the same way as normal 1st & 2nd class mail, just has to be signed for the other end....if it gets there! pisses me off that ive got a tracking code but rail mail cant track there ****ing thing within their own company!!
