as most people said, abuse etc. but i also bet because they cant put tax on it!

Like people have said, I think the main reason why they are a class C drug is because they are dangerous if you don't know what you are doing and there has been a lot of abuse in various sports over the years...etc.
The majority of people are intimidated by the huge/bodybuilder, muscles coming out of their ears look...lol.
I can see their point TBH, especially when you look at the current state of Bodybuilders.
Again it all comes down to education though, people are always affraid of something they don't understand and Bodybuilding is probably the only sport which you actually "wear".
I do think it's been taken a bit too far though nowdays and this is largely down to advancements in chemical enhancement drugs (AAS, HGH, insulin..etc.)
Someone who is like 300lbs of muscle such as Ronnie Coleman cannot be achieved without a combination of good genetics, hard work and a lot of chemical enhancement.
So most uneducated people are just gonna say sh*t like "Oh, look at him...steroid freak" and in some respects they are right.
IMO Alcohol abuse is much, much worse than AAS. Yet I can buy as much of it as I want, pretty much when I want.
Unless the govenment can tax it and can put their hand in your pocket, they aren't interested.

I'm glad its illegal to buy OTC. Stops people (eg mainly muddy funster youngsters) who don't understand the consequences, reasoning, usage needs etc of steroids. Without the difficult nature of obtaining them (at least when you 1st start) you'd have much more steroid abuse.

The thing with steroids, is the media and general public have a distorted view. However I often feel BBers have the opposite view but its still a bit distorted.
Yes AAS are not as dangerous as many would have us believe, but they can do damage to your body. They can mess up your lipid profiles (but so can eating lots of fatty foods!), give you increased liver values (as can drinking lots of alcohol), alter electrolyte balances and play a bit with kidneys, can lead to some aggression (although I believe this personally to be not increased aggression in general, but increased aggression upon provacation only), enlarged heart (so can exercise in general), infertility, etc, etc. However most sensible use of AAS will not lead to much long term damage and even with abuse often cessation of AAS use reverses many of these health issues.
