1) they help you carry on when you have reached failure with a weight 2) selecting a lighter weight after reaching failure with what your currently handling will allow you 1-3 reps more depending on the difference/weight drop. 3) hell no... i save these to the last set on the last exercise of the muscle group being trained... it taxes the CNS alot training to this type of failure. Throw them in every now and again, once twice a month IMO
