Hi all,

I've piled on the weight (mostly muscle) but the bodyfat uis creeping up so I want to lose the fat but keep as much muscle as possible.

Current routine.

Sat am - jogging with the Mrs (cardio) do I need to be monitoring heart rate etc to get into the fat burning zone or is any cardio gonna be a positive?

Sat late afternoon (after a rest) Back

Sunday abs
Monday Rest
Tuesday - Legs and cardio
Wed- Biceps (I ahve weightrs at hjome so can train)
Thurs (Chest and shoudlers)
Friday rest.

DIET THIS IS where I have had trouble before

first thing (8:00) apple, bowl of Porridge and whey protein shake with water

12:00 Brown pasta and 1 tin Tuna with mixed veg

15:00 Protein shake and 2 bananas

18:00 Main meal - usually a stir fry with lots of veg meat and pasta

Train at about 8:30-9:30
PWO shake with some sugar.

Last thing before bed - a tine of tuna or a chicken breast or soemthing liek that.

Any thoughts?

You should probably prepare yourself for the usual suspects who will
(1) shout "where are the omega 3 fats" (or just lazily point to their sigs)
(2) demand you search rather than ask questions (even though they've bothered to reply just to say this)
(3) tell you to eat more smaller meals more often
(4) moan that you don't give quantities and weights of the food in your diet
(5) tell you to eat more fruit and veg
(6) and then ask you for your weight, height, age, training info, blood type, history of your family going back nine generations, fingerprint and retina data... etc.

Even though some of this advice is given regularly in a very unhelpful and self-satisfied way, its still mostly good advice.

Your diet is clean'ish'. Keep your protein high (1g per pound bodyweight at least). Eat smaller meals more often. Drink lots of water. Don't cheat. If you aren't going to balance your diet with fruit, veg and fishy oils, take supplements that fill in the gaps.

Bobs yer uncle. Or not, as the case may be.

Omega 3's - they are in fish? I've got tuna in there. I could add some nuts in there too?

I've checked a few other ones, but everyone's has to be different due to time constraints, working life, time of training, time to prepare etc.

Smaller meals more often sounds like a nice plan but between work, meeting, travelling etc etc it MIGHT be tricky.

Quantities fair enough - but I don't have all the ingredients and stuff here, or scales LOL

Fruit and veg - I think I'll still be getting my 5 portions in there.

6 - OK TOTALLY fair: so here goes:

weight 14stone
Height 5 ft 9.5 inch
age: 24 on 18th May (put it in the diaries, I want nice messages folks)
Training info - above, but I can give more detail
O+
family backgorund - polish on my dads side - records aare a bit hazy but as far as my grandparents it's a military backgorund and my mum's family are english , my grandad was a presbiterian minister, my gran was a nurse. as far as I know none of my previous generations trained.

fingerpritn and retina data tro follow

Very little omega 3 in tuna mate. Oily fish or fish oil caps are a good bet.

Cheeky sod! Just wait until you've been posting here for a few years and have had to type "where are the omega-3 fats" for the zillionth time!

To mak: Tinned tuna contains bugger-all omega-3 fat. See http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/fb.asp?m=2698563 for other options.

All cardio is good. See http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/blog/ for some wise words on cardio.

An over-reliance on whey may result in deficiencies in something-or-other but don't ask me what. As James always reminds us, variety is the spice of life, or something like that!
