brittas -> Too much Quark? (May 9 2008 12:17:10)

I'm thinking of getting a cool bag and bringing a quark shake to work as a meal. I just need quick liquid cals and I don't want whey all the time.

I'm also having quark before bed.

Probly a stupid question but can you have too much of this? Is 2 tubs a day ok? There's no fat or anything in it, so I'm guessing it's fine.

theiopener -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 9 2008 12:27:53)

perfectly fine mate, dont worry about it [:)]

Northern Rocker -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 9 2008 12:36:25)

I go through about 1kg of quark each day.

There are of course various quark types available here as opposed to UK. In UK you only have the "virtually fat free" type as far as I could see. You can get quark here with 40% fat !

Anyway I digress. What I wanted to tell you was that quark does have the tendancy to bloat, this is notorious. I have found a good low fat lactose free quark here which is much better in this respect. So just be warned, if youre lactose sensitive, too much quark can bloat your belly which is not too nice to look at [8D]

brittas -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 9 2008 12:40:58)

Well I don't think I'm lactose sensitive.

I'll give it a go anyway.

FatboyGinger -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 9 2008 14:17:06)

Lactose free Quark? I want some!

Arif -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 9 2008 14:48:39)

NR what is the brand name of the lactose free quark?

OoOGazOoO -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 9 2008 16:58:39)

That isn't that much Quark really.

Paul_UK81 -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 9 2008 22:17:17)

I think Northern Rocker lives in Germany; don't think you can get lactose free Quark over here. Maybe we could get him to set up an export business!

Northern Rocker -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 9 2008 22:59:56)

I dont think it would be too successfull considering how quark is so hard to pinpoint in the supermarkets in UK. Here they have whole cold displays filled with maybe 20 different sorts of quark.

Germans love the stuff, they bake with it, eat it for breakfast with fruit, or dump it on jacket potatoes with parsley, onions, chives etc.

They also pour flaxoil over potatoes.

I buy kilos of this stuff :

Their cottage cheese was nice too.

Yes, it is soft cheese.

Sainsburys, Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, all sell it.

Nigeepoo -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 10 2008 14:59:30)

Aldi & Lidl are German companies. Has anyone looked there?

OoOGazOoO -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 10 2008 18:01:20)

I thought along those lines as well and they didnt have it, and when I asked if they had it I got a look like I'd asked for human flesh

Mclovin -> RE: Too much Quark? (May 11 2008 11:40:17)

Went to tesco today and couldn't find it either, even asked a girl working there and she never heard of it. What does it taste like?

Awfull but blended up with some options into a shake it's ok. And a very easy way of getting some cheap protein
