| Power Junkie -> RE: Tempted. (May 10 2008 0:07:42) | Wednesdays and weekends? Dude, it's a way of life, although most Parkourista's hate the term freerunning or the equally limp wristed sounding 'tracing'. Just out of curiousity, what kind of advice are you looking for? Locations? Methods? My old gymnastics club had a lot of parkour freaks in it who'd test out new moves in safety before risking it on concrete. If you haven't already considered it, join a local gymnastics club. Most do an adults evening session once or twice a week. Learn how to do the basics safely before you take it to the concrete. Simple things like forward rolls, dive forward rolls, angled rolls, swiss rolls, cheese rolls...yeah. Regardless of martial arts or BB background, gymnastics will teach you how to pump those legs for maximum height, which will help when you're trying to vault the bonnet of a Vauxhaul Nova in style. Pick easy spots to practice. Country park with a little kiddie playground/adventure playground. If you slip up, you won't kill yourself as those floors are designed for litigious parents. Climb trees to get that extra bit of co-ordination. Time yourself up and around once you've picked a likely route up and down. Basically, do some ground work in a safe environment before you pound the concrete jungle. It worked for me! Have fun. |
