Do you feel that they have helped you be a better cook?

For the basics I`d say no, I learnt from my Ma and other chefs I worked alongside.

What I would say is that they encouraged me to use my imagination more and try different things as well as the more exotic ingredients.

Lol, just read the bottom [:D].

Grin.

Actually turning vegetarian for a few years in my mid to late teens taught me to cook. It was either that or live on a diet of Linda McCartney's filth [:'(] Although the vegetarianism didn't last my love of cooking did!

Not knocking his ability as a Chef but having read a couple of his books I found him more inspirational in the sense that despite the odds and things not going to plan he just seems to have this determination to succeed, I honestly think he would have been a success in what ever profession he`d chosen.

Gary Rhodes is probs my favourite.

agree they make you wanna go and risk everything like he did but i would end up broke [:D]
good reads!

H20 -> RE: Celebrity Chefs (May 9 2008 21:30:56)

Lol, me too mate, with `artistic license` I thought the books may have tried to give the impression `ooh look at me I`m hard` but if anything it showed quite a vulnerable side to him ( I felt anyway) very good reads as you say mate.

ElfinTan -> RE: Celebrity Chefs (May 9 2008 21:35:35)

I love The 2 Hairy Bikers. They just love their food and have a blast. [:D] I love cooking and it's one thing I'm pretty good at so I do like getting ideas from all over including cookery programms! ( I will try to get out more[;)])
