JohnOvManchester -> Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 9 2008 21:46:30)

I have always had knee problems...
I put it down to having very narrow joints, so a lot of force is spread over a smaller surface area.

Can people post up some leg stats... just out of curiosity?
And let us know if you have any knee probs and what weight you squat for you working sets for reps... again just to see if anyone can spot any correlation?

I will give you mine to start, would be good if we could all use this format:

- Thigh = 25"
- Knee Joint (over knee cap) = 13"
- Calf = 15"
- Squat = 140kg x 8 reps

meat 05 -> RE: Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 9 2008 21:51:38)

thigh 29,knee 16,calf 19 squat 240 for 5 -6 reps. never had a knee injury.

lilbigman -> RE: Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 9 2008 21:54:11)

Thigh = 27"
Knee = 16.5"
Calf = 17"
Squat = 140kg for 4 reps.

Only get any niggles/ twinges in my knee if I've been walking for far too long, including standing. This is walking almost all day, mind.

H20 -> RE: Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 9 2008 22:02:14)

Middle of thigh - 25"

Knee - 16" ( squatted yesterday so there`s a good inch or two swelling still)

Calves - 17 1/2"

Squats - well I do 4 giant sets of squat, leg ex and leg curl, the weight I use for squatting within this is about 80kg 10 reps.

For what it`s worth John, I think you have funny looking knees too mate (NOI[;)])

Scott32 -> RE: Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 9 2008 22:24:38)

- Thigh = 30.5"
- Knee Joint (over knee cap) = 15.3"
- Calf = 18.5"
- Squat = 200kg x 8 reps

Have noticed some knee pain in the left leg but i shatterd my knee cap 2 1/2 years ago so that may have somthing to do with it.

Fat Pete -> RE: Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 9 2008 22:41:46)

JohnOvManchester -> RE: Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 10 2008 16:27:48)

trixta you seem like the only person with a narrow joint even though it's still big compared to mine LOL and you have no probs
might be way off on my conclusion about the small surface area thing, not that I'm looking for excuses... more looking for reasons rather than excuses

I am right in thinking yo can not make your bones wider once they have fully grown? I know I can make them denser but that's differant.

Knighty -> RE: Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 10 2008 17:19:17)

Thigh = 25"
Knee joint = 14"
Calves = 16.5"

Never really had any knee problems, other than when my legs are tight.

Dwarfenegger -> RE: Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 10 2008 18:22:16)

Knee joint - 13inches
Thigh - 26 inches
Calf - 16 inches

any knee probs mate?
your the only one with kid size knees like me LOL
if you do squats are they painless, do you feel any grinding, what sort of weight do you use?

H20 -> RE: Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 10 2008 22:17:36)

John, what`s your sporting background before weights mate ? Could it be a follow on from any old injuries from that ?

They`re funny old things knees, you tend to compensate for knocks and injuries after a while without really realising it, hence why I`m slightly bow-legged on my left leg ( compensating for 20 odd years with having no cruciate ligament).
My lad was under a specialist because his feet were a bit penguin like and he got pains in his knees after years of football, turned out that his gait was mis-aligned to compensate/relieve the pain, I`d see a knee specialist if it`s a big problem mate they`ll soon get to the bottom of it.

JohnOvManchester -> RE: Leg stats - thigh / knee / calf (May 10 2008 22:27:15)

I did a fair bit of sports stuff but mainly I was a sprinter for an athletics club, not as long but swam for a swiming club and was at a karate club a few years, main sporty activity was played football every single day at home (all of us played footy everyday though)... that was all whilst school age
Big period of doing nothing sporting then in my twenties bit of boxing then weights - never had any probs anything like what I have now though

My knee's have not had an easy life... it's probably a combination of things
