I'm going to Siberia for a month at the end of june. I'll be walking a lot(2 weeks straight) with a large backpack and may not be eating a lot at certain sections of the expedidition.

How much strength/size do you think I'll lose and how long do you guys think it will take to get back to where I am now?

Has anyone else taken a lot of time off at once? How did you find it effected you?

P.S. Sorry if this is wrong forum.

everyone bodies are different mate and it all depends on how many calories your burning off and how much your eating... as well as rest etc.
as long as your diet is still good and you rest i doubt you would lose much.

large calorie deficit and poor rest and i would think it would drop a fair bit.

It should be absolutly awesome. Going to visit Moscow for a few days and also walking on a glacier.

Can't wait!

Mate don't worry about losing size, you're only 16yr old, just enjoy the trip ahead. A month off will do you good, you've got many years ahead to train. Enjoy

Well bro you know when I went to Alaska for the month I lost 11kg. I was eating a pretty load protein intake a high majority of the time etc etc.

I got back end of July and by the time I went to Uni in mid September I had gained it all back and a wee bit more too. We'll be training together when you get back so I'll make sure to stuff you with food and get you weight back on and strength up before I go back South.

PS. Get those pics emailed to me!

Yes, many times. In fact I've just come back from a month travelling about. I don't find that it has much of an effect on me really. I might lose a very small amount of mass but this always comes straight back again with a week or two back training.

Following 5 days with little or no eating following a case of food poinsoning last year, I lost almost a stone. Within a fortnight it had come back again.

I couldn't say how much of that weight was muscle but the strength came back very quickly.

Just enjoy yourself, if walking for 12 hours with no food can be considered enjoyment
