wysiwyg -> dissertation (May 10 2008 2:35:26)

i am starting my final year next year but they want us to have picked a tutor and module title before the end of this year (basically meaning thursday as i have sat on it for 3 weeks)

so i need a construction related idea where there is a lot of information available but also one that is interesting (different people find different things interesting i understand this [:)])

i have until thursday to decide, i am on a quantity surveying degree

i was going to do it on a particular sector (which i am currently working in) however i may be changing sectors so dont really want to be working on something in 6 months i cannot find anything out on

im a bit stuck for ideas [:@]
(also, as you can see it is preying on my mind as it is 2:30am and i am thinking about it )

go and look through previous years dissertations, get some idea of the direction people took theirs.

then go and brain storm, works a treat.

a few people i know are buying ones off ebay and following the format,
i mean ones not connected to what they are doing at all so tha tthey can see how the people laid theres out, did the research, etc

so this is an option as well

yeah bigd i know what a few people at work did theirs on, some would be ok, some wouldnt (if i move)
i did a mini-one last year on the sector (the one i may be coming out of) but struggled with info and made a bit up, also if i move this info would effectively disappear

health and safety is a an option (eg cscs cards worth) but i can see this being boring

cheers for comment [:)]

go to your uni's library they will have loads of old dissertations, one's in your subject area too.

fcuk buying one off ebay, it will show up when they run it through 'turn it in' or any ohter plagiarism programme.

buying it to copy the format is daft when you can to the library and see what other people did.

i struggled with my dissertation topic, but then sat and brain stormed the areas i was doing well in and outside areas that interested me.

soon came to me.
