Training at home for the past year or so has meant much more consistency for me so I think it's well worth it. However, I train in an upstairs room so that means to train legs for me is not an option as I like to use lots of weight which is why I go to the gym once a week just to hammer them there oh and use the fancy treadmills etc.

I went the home gym route last month. I bought a large log cabin (5mx6m) and filled it with a cage, smith machine, high/low pulley, dipping station, bench, cross trainer and 300kg of Oly weights. Buying dumbells next month. I have a tv setup for passing time on the cross trainer (I hate cardio) and have my cd player set up with music I like. I can train how I want, when I want. Though I do miss some of the guys from my old gym, I'd been there years and got to know a lot of them well.

Sounds nice. I think Rightyho was thinking along the same lines at one point.

I go to the gym but have a basic rack and bar, oly plates at home...
I find it easier to get in the car get away from the house, the gym is the place only for training, when I'm in the house it's not mentally the same and this reflects in my training.
At home I do OK but not the same.

It's the at the gym it is the time and the place 100% at home it's sort of the time and sort of the place, just doesn't feel the same.
In the same way home study courses are not the same as going to college.

Good point John-I also won't get many scantly clad Brazilian chicks strollin round my garage

Do you have many brazilians where you are?

By the way, what's that place called where you live? I have a mate who's moving to OZ and it sounded similar.

Sh*t loads of Brazilian students -please don't tell me you have relatives moving near me!! the property market is a bit shakey as it is -
I live about an hr up the coast from Sydney-towns called Terrigal

We have

Olympic Weights
Kettlebells
Gymnastic Rings
Sandbag
Adjustable Squat Rack

Its ace. Whatever music you want, make noise, swear. Gets a bit uncomfortable with winter/summer temps but its manageable.

Move to Brazil, then set up a home gym there

@ BIGDOWNUNDER

Do it mate. Train when u liek how you like , For me it keeps me focused nothign toi distract me from my goals. Allthough this doesnt suit every one. You dont need to Spend 1000's

http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/

Thereo nnline prices are Cheaper Than ALL OTHERS, BUT if you ring them up, Dont ring the sales line Ring James @ Nottingham Branch ( Number there )

And if you order in one go im sure he do u a good deal.

I Brought £350's worth of gear he done it for £250ish

Just list what you want wwith codes before callign him and just ask whats ur best price on each one and he will lower it and if you order in one go im sure here knock some more off.

I Have NEar 200Kg of Olmpyic weights, DB, BB, TB, EZ, Bench , Squat Stands ( Would of like a Cage but cheaper way of doing it) Treamill (£200 2nd hand) I would say i have spent no more than £500

Good luck keep us updated mate.

Nah don't panic, not relatives, just acquaintences.

They're moving to a place called wollongong (or something like that). Looks great.

I like training in my garage. Gets a bit cold in the winter but I soon warm up

Only problem is the ceiling is low so I have to step outside to do military presses and overhead squats

Stuff I've accumulated:

Bench
Rack
190kg of weights (including some 0.5 and 1kg ones)
3 bars
Squat catchers (they're like mini squat stands, useful for shrugs and rows etc)
2 dumbbells

Wouldn't mind getting a spin bike at some point

It's nice to be able to just go out there and train without having to trek for miles to the nearest gym
