As mentioned invite them round for a b-b-q, suggesting to them you would like it to be the start of the ending of your troubles as neighbours. For sh!ts and giggles i would thicken 1 bottle of ketchup with cornflour then dilute it with some p!ss,I'm ashamed to say i would have a field day with urine in his food, the whole time killing him with kindness. As far as anyone else will ever know, you tried to resolve things by offering the olive branch and some food Fairplay for not rushing in, and for noble reasons too.You don't deserve this, I want the old JOV back who posts some crazy design pictures for building projects etc ;)

Am I going mental or do house-owners really, actually own the sections of pavement and road outside their houses?

t would only take months to move house if you your house is over priced and wyswig if you are paying thousands to re arrange a new mortagage i suggest you look into finding a new advisor if john has been in his house over 5 years then there is no problem, if he has had the mortgage for less then 5 years (or aroiund this time) he will have to pay a fee to cancel the mortgage (my mate was quoted £9000) when yu sign up for a mortgage (assuming it is a fixed rate one) you have to live in or at least own the house for a set amount of time or the penalty kicks in quote:
Look mate if it bothers you so much you can come and live with my parents too, there a cool bunch actually! it doesnt bother me in the slightest when i lived at my parents i wasnt bothered, it wasnt my property, someone scratched the car i went kicking off, etc when you live on your own and the house is empty for z number of hours a day you have to think differently (and i am assuming when there are children and wives involved it is even worse) quote:
am I going mental or do house-owners really, actually own the sections of pavement and road outside their houses? no they do noit unfortunately or you could torch their car, it is a public highway, shame though you should get a parking space allocated

ORIGINAL: JohnKerr2 Am I going mental or do house-owners really, actually own the sections of pavement and road outside their houses? No they dont own the parking outside their house. By law, anyone who pays road tax is allowed to park outside your house. I have heard that if you do have a driveway, you are allowed to park your car in your driveway but you are not allowed to park another car blocking your own driveway. This is so that that you dont make it difficult for your neighbour to come out of his/her driveway. I think this is why some driveways are painted with a white line(maybe someone could confirm this?). If the neighbour was using his driveway and had another car that he couldnt fit in his driveway then i would have understood if he parked his car outside your house. The fact that he is using the parking space even though he has space in his driveway means that he is just looking for confrontation. These people usually love to be involved in problems. They know that if they do that they will piss you off. They are probably doing it to piss you off deliberately possibly for other reasons (i.e the fence in your garden or some other issue). My advice to you is you have to be smarter than them and just ignore it. This might sound a bit daft but ignoring it might actually work. If they find that you r not paying much attention to it they might just decide to park inside their driveway to save the extra walk to their house. It might take some time but trust me it usually works. In fact you might even piss them off by ignoring them. Dont forget that he is allowed to park outside your house even if he has an empty driveway. The fact that they are not blocking your entrance to your house means that you cant do anything about it. I know that its not a nice thing to do but he is doing it just because he can. Dont listen to these silly ideas about smashing or scratching the car. Yes these sort of solutions do sometime work but in most cases they make things worse. If you are a family and have kids you are better off to avoid this route violence and trouble. They usually end up worse than how they started. You dont know this but he might be prepared for this. They probably know that leaving their car infront of your house is a bit risky so they might actually have a camera watching their car. Infact if they have nothing better to do (like most neighbours from hell) they might be on their window all day watching their car :) If all fails then you should go for an option that means you have not broken the law. The only options i can think of now are 1. Get your own driveway 2. The cheapest option i can think of is for you to go to the scrap yard and get a cheap Nissan Micra. This is a 1.0litre engine car. If you get the very old ones (like an E or F reg) you can get it for about £60 pounds. As its a 1ltre engine the road tax will be very cheap. You dont have to pay insurance on the car if you are just going to leave it outside your house. You only need insurance if you are driving the car. All you need is the road tax. Get the car and leave it outside ur house.

For some reason I want the Nissan Micra sat outside the house to be painted exactly like the Noddy car. That would do the neighbours heads in.

It's not just us TBH mate... we were told they was strange people by the guy opposite. They had pretty much fell out with most people especially with kids... small things like footy going in there gardens and over-reacting when everyone else just gets on with things they take it personally. Last time one of the older kids smashed there porch window with the ball... out of order and his mum and dad offered there appologies and to pay and organise for it to be fixed... all kids involved were told off. But he wanted them to wash his car for 6 weeks rather than pay for it... they did and he came out complaining it wasn't done right... I saw it, it was not a pro valite but it was clean. To me that's a ego boost or power trip over the kids!!! News for you mate - kids make mistakes. We thought they were OK at first, when we first spoken to them they said summat weird... they have a capital N and a capital V on there gates. They said it stands for initials of there first names but THEN they said but really if you say it together it say envy (NV), cause all the neighbours envy us. We just took it as a joke but they wasn't smiling. 1st sign of strange. After that he borrowd a lump hammer, I let him under my house so he could get under his and do some wiring (he had laid flooring and there is a small gap you can get through). Then at some non-specific ponit they sort of stopped letting on and generally just didn't speak to us or anything. Then funny looks in our direction. Then the fence. Huge argument where he called in back up!!! Then the gorping in the window whenever they pass. Then there mates did it and stuck the finger up... que in the embarassing street slanging match. Now obviously pee taking parking. Like I say though, they are just weird on a anti-social level. To sum up just think they are the deffinition of the term odd-bods.
