This is my first post so a bit of an intro.... I'm 20 I'm a university student, i wish to maintain basic anonymity. About 18 months ago i herniated (slipped) a disc in my lower back, as a result i trapped my sciatic nerve in my left leg (the main nerve for that limb). Extremely painful etc etc. I was never a bodybuilder at all, or even extremely fit. However i used to run cross-country (Not competitively but i was alright on a school level) and used to do some pretty hardcore long distance walking with heavy packs, when i was at my best i could do 50 miles in 36 hours carrying everything to survive and sleep for the night on my back. For the last 18 months or so i have been tantamount to chair ridden walking no great distances and next to zero sport/activity, my body has practically atrophied, walking swiftly up the two flights of stairs to my room leaves me almost gasping. It's pathetic and i detest it. Recently my leg/back has improved a fair bit, however it's still by no means perfect. The pain caused by the trapped nerve is pretty well managed with painkillers (Gabapentin fwiw), and being that its not a mechanical problem just the 'wiring' I'm perfectly happy to get the damn thing going. My spine on the other hand is still pretty unstable, my lower 3-4 vertebrae aren't herniated, but they are decidedly not in the right place, in fact they tend to shift around far more than i should like. The very very last thing i want to do i slip one again, i think this might preclude a lot of the standard weights/etc. At the same time though, i realise that having poor muscle tone around these vertebra is only aggravating the problem. What i want: I'm not looking to do any great deal of bulking out at all, i just want to regain a decent amount of cardio ****ceutical/medical knowledge and am fully capable of intra-muscular injections. I also am perfectly capable of acquiring PEDs. However I'm completely unsure if they would have any benefit in my case/objectives. It's a sunny day, and this afternoon I'm going to go and have a run, which will be the first real exercise i have had in around a year. That sounds crazy even to me. Any pointers, suggestions, anything really, all appreciated. Cheers.
