i read few years back in men health and just remembered that lifting weights, bodybuilding, you have got a greater chance of going blind more that the average person, due to the tenson, pressure, strain you put your eyes under when lifting. the advice given is make sure your breathing proply not tensing your head, ive seen my eyes blood shot loads of times. il try find a article on it and post it.

LOL TDJ. It's true that using the valsava manoeuvre (sp?) (not exhaling upon exertion) can raise the risk of glaucoma. The increase in systolic blood pressure is huge when lifting, let alone when you don't breath! Whilst not perhaps eliminating the risk entirely, it probably reduces or minimises it pretty substantially with correct breathing.

Theres also peer reviewed literature not reporting hypertrophy during resistance training. All in context

I used to hold my breath all the time then the girl friend come in the room she said your red as hell and vains going to pop out LOL So I soon stopped that jesus you dont relise what it does untill somebody tells you. Now I breath correct now and find I can do more reps and last longer breathing properly then holding breath it knackars you up in the end.

I hold my breath during all of the powerlifts. Take your breath into the belly, push out and lift!

I`d rather that, then exhale during a lift, lose my tightness, and risk serious back injury
