looking to buy a new cam corder is there such thing as a camcorder that will record in both PAL and in NTSC or would it be easier to try ond convert it using a computer

No, or at least I've not come across one. Can I ask why you want to film in NTSC?

Not as far as I know, unless there's a funky switchable HD version.

Best to film in PAL IMHO and then convert using your PC.

i live/work in the uk and my wife and and kids live in south america looking for camcorder that will work in both countries guess no such thing

I see. As above you'll need to convert it - I'm sure there's a free utility out there somewhere that'll do the job for you.
