ORIGINAL: muscleman2008 Best gig i have been to is The Foo Fighters in hyde park with queens of the stoneage, motorhead, juliette and the licks and angels and airwaves. Nothing better than a gig in a park with 90,000 people and a lot of beer. I went to that! I was absolutely wrecked by the end - at the front (NOT golden circle!!!), several beers, VERY hot day. I really enjoyed it but the sound levels were terrible.

ORIGINAL: muscleman2008 Yeh on the whole i like small gigs but the foos were just awesome with that big of a crowd. Probably helped that it was sunny aswell. With a band as good live as the Foo Fighters, you will always enjoy the gig.Rush are another band who are awesome live,as well as Def Leppard.

One night I was just staying in and I got a call from a mate saying he had a spare ticket to Dizzee Rascal. Went to that and it was bloody good. Did it really well. He came on with some of his classics, then his newer tunes, one of them mixed with an Arctic Monkeys tune and then it went into a set full of hip hop/indie/rock classics. Nirvana - teen spirit etc. Then a beat boxer came on who was decent. Finished up with some of his classics. Great gig. was that at astoria? if so i was there. Best gig i have been to is The Foo Fighters in hyde park with queens of the stoneage, motorhead, juliette and the licks and angels and airwaves. Nothing better than a gig in a park with 90,000 people and a lot of beer. I'd have to say that in my view, the opposite is true. I prefer a smaller venue The atmosphere at large festivals is inherently diluted. I have nothing against festivals, they're just not as intense as dedicated gigs Agree with that...although I have yet to go to a festival (first one is Leeds in Augest) Parkway Drive was in the Basement of Rock City 300/400 people max...fan interaction is brilliant, and eveyrone there is a dedicated fan, not like what you get at large fesativals etc. also you dont get to have photo's with your fav band at 90,000+ concerts

seen Gillan many years ago (must have been about 1978-79), for those who don't know, this was the former Deep Purple lead singer Ian Gillan after he left Deep Purple, also seen Cameo (before Word Up) before they became "mainstream" would like to see David Gilmour if I get the chance.

FFS, featuring Frankie Beverly, now I would love to have seen them, "joy and Pain" excellent, As a side note H20, you must be an old fecker too

I actually got dragged along with a mate and didn`t really want to go( wasn`t really my cup of tea) but he came with me to a couple of Numan concerts so I couldn`t really say no. Glad I went though, Cameo were excellent both times as were Maze,on the second one it was a group called Cashflow(had to look that one up lol) they were very good too. Do you remember that mad Bass player who just used to come running on like a madman bouncing up and down everywhere ? he was only little but really good to watch, a right character.

Even though I'm a Numan fan like H2O, I have to say that Rammstein where hard to beat for entertainment live.

(feck I was young and trendy once) I think the bassist was nathan leftenant, how old are you H20?, I'm 43 saw Cameo in 1984 .

Younger than you lmao, I`m 42 mate. I don`t really remember the line-ups too much, as I say my mate was really into his Soul, Funk, Reggae etc. I do remember Nathan Lieutenant, Blackmon and another being the main three, it`s the lad on the left as you look at the photo below, Michael Burnett rings a bell, but the Bassist at the concerts was a little black fella with spikey hair, I`ll have a search around because it`ll do my head in now. I was young once too, trendy ? maybe not . Thumbnail Image

Best gig for me was Prince doing the gold experience at the NEC in 1996. A musical genius at his height, I know I'll never top that.

Thumbnail Image I was into rock to begin with, particularly pink floyd and AC/DC in the 70's and early 80's, then my mate introduced me to jazz/funk and soul, he got me to get my hair cut, buy nice clothes and start clubbing, it was then that I got into cameo, maze, fatback, mcfadden and whitehead, then went into jazz a bit more, there was a series of albums called "jazz juice" 1,2, right up to 8 or 9 I think, I've still got a couple on vinyl, but the others were on tape and have dissapeared, nowadays I still listen to early ac/dc, floyd, led zep, jazz/funk and soul, depends what mood i'm in. not sure who the bassist was, I can't even remeber who was supporting, it was a long time ago now, it was in Ipswich, the Gaumont I think. edit- just downloaded joy and pain, back in stride and twilight (maze), now getting party freak and mine all mine (cashflow) just for nostalgia you understand
