Lmao, I`ve just been watching some on `youtube` can`t believe how camp they looked, never really struck me at the time, but they were definately camp . Sorry to go OT a bit Galenkia but that`s the great thing about music, because of my experiences I`ll never turn down the chance to go to a show if offered, it has as much to do with the atmosphere and feeling you get when you`re there as well as the music. Yes this thread has brought back some great memories lol.

ORIGINAL: boar been to a few gigs , not loads , but wierdly the best one for me was david grey the worst has to be radiohead , although i love most of their albums they seemed to dissappear up their own electronica arses for a good portion of the concert !! I'm a big Radiohead fan. Don't get to many gigs these days, last one was Jeff Beck a few years back. But seeing Radiohead live is on the top of my list of "must do's", despite what you said.

ORIGINAL: AWG Would have been even better if it wasnt for 'hardcore dancers' Mate I know exactly where you're coming from. I've been to so many HC gigs where there's a huge empty space in front of the stage, and all because a handful of poseurs are trying to look hard with all that windmilling and kickboxing nonsense Moshes are rough, but it's another thing entirely to flail around with the intention of deliberately hitting people. I used to go to quite a few shows in Canterbury, but got really sick of it... that and the sh1tty attitude of some of these straight edge kids, just chavs in HC t-shirts, w@nkers [/rant]

It's hard for me to pick a best one, because a lot of gigs are affected in the context in which you see them (circumstances, companions, etc). Possibly with that in mind, I would go for - Agnostic Front: (Leicester, circa 2003) I'm 16 year's old and it's my first hardcore gig. I've never felt so scared and yet so alive at the same time. I've been to around 100 shows since and this was probably the most violent pit I've been in. Skinhead's fighting bikers, bouncer's fighting whoever, absolute anarchy. The Pogues: (Brixton, Christmas 2005) Just really special. Ol'Shano was on top form and jumping around with a couple of thousand drunken paddies was one of the most endearing experiences I've had to date. Sick of it all: (Southampton, July 2007) New York hardcore punk legends SOIA play a little venue that's closing in the next week. I'd only been living in Southampton for a few months, but this little club had become my weekend haunt and I was really sad to see it closing it's doors. With that in mind, band and audience gave it all they had. Awesome pile-on at the end as we sang the hardcore classic Us vs. Them. Vid below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dFYiJSQC2c (I'm the shirtless dude on the singer's right lol )

Daft Punk - alive 2007 @ Hyde Park the most important electronic artists ever. and it wasn't a 'gig' it was entertainment on a level i have never experienced before. i didn't know it was possible to feel the way i did during the show. lights, sound, the costume, the secrecy, the absolute exclusivity (the last tour was 1997 and they will probably nver do it again) best thing that has ever happened in my lifetime was that 90 minutes on a summers evening in june.

I don't think that the best gig I've ever been to is anywhere near the objectively the best musical performance of the time, and so I will say... Transvision Vamp, Glasgow 1988, Day before they featured on telly nationally. OK they turned out to be sh!t, but it felt like being on cusp of summat new and major, Zodiac Mindwarp and The Love Reaction, Glasgow 1989, load of heaving sweaty heaving. And spitting Therapy? 1999ish, can't remember. I printed up an Islamic tee-shirt especially. The ink ran in the mosh-pit. The tee-shirt looked cooler than ever. My mate Anna's band's big stage debut, the Jug O' Ale, Birmingham. Everyone had necked several jug o' ales. Orbital; Glastonbury, um, 95? best uh, 'supplements' available, setting sun, y'know, that kinda thing. Magical.

In terms of playing, it'd be Dragonforce, they were flawless and highly impressive. Enjoyed Megadeth/Korn more though, because I prefer their music and it was less guitar ****ery and more emotion

Been to loads so picking a best will be tough... First live band i saw was pantera supporting megadeth in '92, that sticks out as well as seeing pantera headling in '93 which was the worst moshpit i've been in (still have scar on my elbow ). H2O, CIV and Sick Of It All in Manchester Jun'95, awesome line up, always remember that one. Most recently Rancid, The Unseen and Holy Racket in Newcastle Nov'06, 2nd time i've seen rancid (1st in '95) and they are probably the best 'live' band i've seen.

Monsters of rock 94-Sepultura, Pantera and biohazard in 1 place I also got to see the first ever Foo Fighters first gig in England at Kings College London. There where only a couple hundred people there that made it even more intense. I also saw them at Brixton Academy and they where just as amazing.
