MonkeyStyle -> Waking up with Pins and Needles? (May 10 2008 20:37:34)

Recently ive been waking up in the middle of the night with pins and needles and complete numbness down my forearms and through my hands. Takes at least 10 minutes of shaking it before it dissapears. Does anyone have any idea what can be causing this?

Thanks

Recently ive been waking up in the middle of the night with pins and needles
once you feeling tired this a good indication to stop sewing on the machine and go to bed

I get this quite frequently; so do quite a few of the lads at the gym. I wouldn't worry about it unless you start getting pains in your hands - if so you might wanna check in with your GP to query carpal tunnel syndrome.

Have you tried accupucture? [8|]

I get it nearly every time i sleep. comes from being heavy and sleeping on yer arm imo.

can be a symptom of carpel tunnel syndrome so might be worth getting checked, especailly if you ever get tingling etc in the hands during the day

a thinker pillow to lift my head up a bit more helped sort nighttime pins and needles in my hand and arm for me, might be worth a try

wysiwyg -> RE: Waking up with Pins and Needles? (May 11 2008 3:07:22)

i get it when i sleep on an arm or something

i also used to sleep with one arm under the pillow (the right one) until i worked out that this crippled me with my dodgy delt, and for all i know this (along with the other reasons) could be what did it [&:]

Thanks for the replies, Good to know im not alone lol i tried asking some mates for advice and they had no idea wtf i was on about. I originally thought it was just from sleeping on it, but in subsequent nights ive had it in both forearms/hands and once in my leg- which hurt so much i wanted to shout the house down lmao. Touch wood it wont happen tonight, and after the advice if it happens again i will go and see a doc. Its weird, its like a pleasure pain feeling, really hurts but is quite enjoyable lol. Cheers all

187 -> RE: Waking up with Pins and Needles? (May 11 2008 3:09:27)

i get this all the time, left arm from shoulder to finger tips has pins and needles and my hand and fingers are totally numb.
its because i keep sleeping on it or sleeping at a funny angle etc.
no matter how i try recently i keep waking up with my left arm twisted round.

wysiwyg -> RE: Waking up with Pins and Needles? (May 11 2008 3:10:40)

i did have really bad pins and needles in my right hand the other day after pains in my back, i made a post on here as i was a bit concerened to be honest, it hasnt happened since though

it lasted for about an hour and i couldnt do anything, sometimes you can carry on but i couldnt move the mouse or anything (it was my right hand)

i also got them in the base of my foot during squat sets the other week, i dont know if you have tried squatting with one foot pins and needled up, let's just say i nearly fell forward [&:]

i've often woken up with really uncomfortable pins and needles in my lower legs - I've never heard of anyone else who gets it though and after googling it I've got no idea what causes it or how to sort it!

glad to be useful once again [:D]
