How long shold a weight session last? I've heard between 45mins, to an hour is optimum, but some of these routines I've seen on here, and read in mags must take more like 1hr 30mins, and thats keeping rest minimal, and what if you want to squeeze in a quick 20 mins of fat burning cardio? tthats taking you closer to 2hrs. Is training for 2hrs ok, or is this gonna stop growth?

My sessions are usually 1 hour 45 mins or so, sometimes up to 2 hours long and I gain fine. Personally I never bought into the short sessions ideas but that's just me, I feel that my muscles really need to be worked to get the best growth out of them. MM

there is no set time limit. it takes as long as it does to get the job done.

I think its all down to rest time, I could easily be in the gym for 2 hours...but I bet a good percentage would be resting and chatting...doing 5x5 for about 40 mins with 2-3 mins rest between pretty much fooks me!!

I personally feel any more than an hour of weights and youre intensity is going to suffer. Short, sharp and sweet for me 45 mins to hour max

45 minutes to 1.5 hours for me... depends on what movements i'm doing. If its legs or back i will take my time as i take 1 minute rest minimum between deads/squats

IMO if you're in the gym for 2 hours you're either doing too much volume or you're having too much rest time! 40-60mins still gives you ample resting time between sets..

Short Sharp and intense for me. I do two body parts per session one large one small . ie. Chest and Biceps. I then do 45 mins to 1 hour traing time. I find that if i do a couple of warm up sets per body part and then the rest of my sets are taken to complete failure. I find that Im totally done in between 45 mins to a hour and i couldnt really do any more to be honest. So for me its around the 45 mins mark. I take approx 30 mins over a large body part and 15 mins over a small body part. I dont really count sets I just do as many as I can in the 30 mins time space. Depending on my energy levals for that day I can do anything from 8 sets to 14 sets per body part.
