Skull crushers using oly bar
-
10 May 2008 23:45
Normally when doing skull crushers I use an Ez-bar at home but for my last session thought I'd switch to seeing what a straight oly barbell would be like. The thing is it was okay but I noticed some stress to my wrist in a similar way when doing wrist curls for the forearm. Is this stress okay in that it will help build strength in my wrist or it is more likely to cause undue stress on the joint?

I'd just stick with the EZ bar if the straight bar is uncomfortable to use

why use the oly bar in the first place? you want to keep your form tight on skull crushers so the smaller the bar the easier i find it to control

Oly bar was being used because of my current set up where I would have to turn the bench around so that I can place the E-Z bar on some spotter catchers that I have. Was just being a little lazy which is how I happened upon doing them with the oly bar. It wasn't too bad funnily enough as I just slowed my rep pace down to get use to it. I thought if I can help strengthen my wrist then that's got to be good but at the same time couldn't help think that I might be doing it more harm than good in the long run. Hence why I thought I would get the expert advice of my fellow MT members ORIGINAL: sheriff_jonny why use the oly bar in the first place? you want to keep your form tight on skull crushers so the smaller the bar the easier i find it to control
