LUX -> Buying carp fishing set up (May 11 2008 0:41:23)

I 've decided to get back into carp fishing after a 15-16 year lay off. Sold all my stuff as a teenager to fund a party lifestyle so need to buy a whole lot of kit.

I'm looking at getting a complete 2 rod set up and spending around £300, so does anybody have any good places to recommend buying from?
I've seen set ups on ebay but don't want to end up buying stuff that is like buying from Argos and just not fit for the job.

Just want as much quality for my cash as i can get, new or 2nd hand is cool with me

for the rods i would suggest chub outcasts, cheap and come with a lifetime unconditional warrenty, as the tittle says they can cast a long way and heavy leads etc all for 50 quid a qpice which is very cheap in todays rod market. ive got all the gear bed chairs bivvis the lot i would suggest thought to buy the best you can afford as you get what you pay for .

i also have diawa emcast evo reels very strong and decent price to.

as for where to buy just look around for online shops fpr the best deal england angling are good i think. or just snoop around local tackle shops soome have sales on soon if you wait

also where do you fish mate as im not far from gloucester?

I'm looking around at getting a 2nd hand set up as a first thought after doing some searching. Theres lots of set up offers from online stores but i think i might be able to get a better quality set up by buying 2nd hand.

I'm a brummie so the last places i fished was the park pools in Birmingham (Trittiford, Swanshurst, Lifford). But now i'm living down here i need to start searching around for some pools around my area. I was at in Birmingham yesterday and chatting to my mates that still fish, so i'll be going up there to do some days and nights. But it will be really nice to bring my mates down this way and get them fishing in a new environment. I'll have to start searching for carp forums for advice on places to go and ways to tackle them.

I'm very keen to get set up very soon so if i don't find anything suitable through private ads and ebay, i'll definately give England Angling a call. I think if i push my budget up to £350 i should be able to get some decent stuff to start with. There was a set up on http://www.crazycarp.com/productdetails/mcs/productid/948 that caught my eye yesterday. That would leave me enough cash to get landing net, mat, end tackle etc. [:)]

Thanks for that mate. I'm going to keep googling private ads etc for most of the week and if nothing comes to fruition i'll definately get onto England Angling and see what they can offer for my budget.

In the post above yours i already mentioned buying a mat, i always like to take care of the fish and treat them with as much care as possible. And sometimes get stung if they decide to jump about and go into some nettles [:D]

I might just email England Angling and see what they can offer, i'm so out of the loop they could mention names etc of stuff and it would all be like a foreign language to me. Easier if i give them chance to mail me a list of the kind of set up they could offer. I keep pushing my budget slightly further at the moment as i know i will be really into it again in no time. I've gone from £300 to £350 but think i could stretch to £400 now as a mate is paying up a debt this week

Formerly Known as Old Git -> RE: Buying carp fishing set up (May 12 2008 15:23:37)

Tim Boyle from England Angling posts on both Carp-uk and Uk Carpers mate, so get asking your questions on there. He of course advertises on both too! [;)]

LUX -> RE: Buying carp fishing set up (May 12 2008 15:47:44)

I had to decide whether to say Muscletalk or that an "Old Git" recommended me! Probably would have caused a chuckle either way [:D]
