I was talking to a guy the other day and he was saying because I mix my shake a couple of hours before i drink it when i'm at work that it has no effect on me. I thought he was consfusing it with a PWO shake as i believe you are meant to take it within an hour after a workout. However he said the amino acids break down after about 5 minutes and it has no effect. Is there any truth in this? I mean surely you are still getting all the calories and protein still in the shake. What would you be missing out on if the acids do break down?

Cheers

You're actually trying to cause potentially fatal accidents, because you don't like horses?

That is rather odd

it will break down when you mix it aye, but nort in 5mins matey. keep them in the fridge when you mix them though or better still mix and then use them. the idea that they would have 'no effect' is a serious case of boolocks

It'd actually be better if our protein cold break down to amino acids in water. Unfortunately it takes strong acid and proteolytic enzymes to do so.
