Hey guys I've been bulking for a while, and have been struggling with a lack of appetite which has been hindering the gains/ amount of food eaten. I've recently found that reducing carbs in the evening means that I am far hungrier the next day and so can eat more overall on a daily basis. Is it possible to bulk while keeping carbs low in the evening (for meals 5 & 6)? At the moment, I'm eating protein and veg for dinner, followed later by cottage cheese/ greek yog and PB..... Have people made gains on this before? And do you therefore increase carbs during the day to compensate? Cheers

Need amounts of food etc, eg 100g of WW pasta. Doesnt seem a lot of food for someone whos bulking even at your weight.

How big is 1 x Scoop whey, Large bowl of muesli, 1 x turkey breast & 1 tin mackerel? Where does your workout fit in? You need to eat more to gain weight. Increase portion sizes by 10% and see what happens.

Scoop of whey is about 28g I think, don't measure the muesli, just pour a nice big bowl out (prob around 50g?) with SS milk (150 ml?) 1 turkey breast is 125g I think and mackerel is 85g- standard small tin. WO is 8-9am 3 times a week, and on these days I have muesli when I wake up, then (28g) whey PWO, and continue with 9.30am meal onwards. I suppose the question is whether anyone else has bulked successfully with low carb evenings, and if this is possible/ a good idea, or a waste of time.....

You've got pre-WO carbs but no post-WO carbs, which may slow down muscle growth. If you're sitting watching TV in the evenings, having fat instead of carbs isn't a problem as you're still getting the kcals in and your muscles are burning mostly fat anyway when you're sedentary. Your protein & EFA intakes look O.K.

OK cool- cheers for your reply. I tend to eat higher GI fruit after training- would this assist with carb intake PWO? This is usually banana or mango, around 45 mins after my workout. I then follow this up with muesli a bit later.
