anyone on here ever getting a loan, lost job and cant pay it back? i have and dont no what to do about it, just wondering what will happen.

i own about £6300. no one will pay it? i wouldnt want them to, its my own fault all just take whats coming.
just wanted to no what they will do? will it go to court or will they just send debt collectors round?

If you get down to the CAB they may be able to freeze the interest on it or suspend payment for a while - but TBH you'd be off clearing it if there is any possible way , OK so you could get away with brushing it under the carpet for a while , but that is not always the clever thing to do !

is it a secured debt, a debt you brought goods with i.e hp, or just a loan, and did u take protection out ?

They will pester you with phonecalls and letters until you can come to any arrangement

research on google mate. they will send letters to you demanding payment, ring you etc, then if you do not pay they will go through court proceedings, which simply is where the debt is delt with as a county court judgement, the courts may let you pay less per month etc, but eventually down the line if your not paying anything at all, they could use bailiffs, but u have to let them in to your house they cant gain entry themselves (so never let them in even if they knock! )
i am currently going into debt as have taken out uni loans and will be for the next 3 years, nasty feeling.

as it is an unsecured loan, best to get cab help or call the ccs, they cant send the ballifs without a court order and they will not want to go this route to start with as they may end with a token sum from you....get advice first and get it now,

cab is citizens advice bureau

ccs consumer credit council (do an online search)

a token sum is what the courts could award you pay back, which can be as little as ten pounds a week, obviously the loan company do not want this....

get off of here and look round he local pubs for night work and shops for day work just to payit while your out of a job then you can look for a proper full time joba same time and just quitwhen your finished thats what i would do

Dont know about balifs and stuff as i dont think they have them over here but the same thing happened to me , i had car , loan the lot mate, then like you i lost job and had to go on social, now what happens there is , when they come aknocking you offer to pay a fiver a week as they cant refuse if thats all you have, and as the man says "YA CANT GET BLOOD OUT OF A STONE" well theres one way, hope thats helpfull, do remember dont be worrying cause its not your money.

How do you pay for the flat etc? I'm pretty sure you can. Even the avatar shows you using a Mobile phone to take the photo. If you can afford that you can spare £30.00 a month or so. See if you can sell it, cancel the contract and use the money. Ditto your internet access.

Often there is a few that you 'cannot do without' certain things. You can. You can 'do without' a TV, Sky, Video, DVD's and players, Broadband and the mobile. That's without getting into you taking on a ****ty job - say working in a fast food place or cleaning. I'd hate to hear that 'the pay is ****' yet see a post saying it's too, too hard to pay back the loan when you are almost certainly paying for net access to make the statement. You'll also have a bunch of stuff you can sell.

stone14, you owe a bank money; no one has ripped you off.

By far and away your best course of action is to ring them and explain you cannot pay the amount they are asking for each month. This will involve some effort on your part though (god forbid) as your first point of contact at the call centre won't be able to do very much at all.

You need to be polite, yet persistent, and get yourself through to someone of a high enough level who is able to renegotiate your debt repayments.

Do not under any circumstances "sweep it under the carpet" and delay contacting your creditors; that will only make things worse. Upfront contact is good for all parties involved in debt problems.

Call them.

 

A few years ago i was in your situation. I rang the loan people (mine was also with barclays, but for 12k) and they said that it was only secured if i was made redundant, not sacked or quit.. They sent me threatening letters for months and when i started managing to pay back they wanted £3500 a month for two months to catch up... I told them go eff themselves, got an iva that i had no intentions of paying.. failed that, then declared bankruptcy...
