See if you can sell it, cancel the contract and use the money. Ditto your internet access. Often there is a few that you 'cannot do without' certain things. You can. You can 'do without' a TV, Sky, Video, DVD's and players, Broadband and the mobile. That's without getting into you taking on a ****ty job - say working in a fast food place or cleaning. I'd hate to hear that 'the pay is ****' yet see a post saying it's too, too hard to pay back the loan when you are almost certainly paying for net access to make the statement. You'll also have a bunch of stuff you can sell. my fone is pay as you go, council pays my rent, my tv isnt werth much neither is dvd player. moblie fone is anchient

have you tried literally everything to get a job? recruitment agencies? jobs you wouldn't normally do or want etc.? not trying to be funny, trying to help, as defaulting on a loan or having an iva or going bankrupt is best avoided if possible

Not much on dole is it but when you take in the fact they are paying your rent and council tax then it lowers the blow in a small way. How much is rent for you each month? Would it be worthwhile getting a job at a fast food place or a delivery driver?

Tio he has nothing to sell lol not unless he wants to eat cold beans and sleep on the floor. I do know one guy who for 4 years slept on the floor and just ate bread and gravy while struggling to bring his boy up. If you can drive and know your way around places like Pizza hut are always looking for drivers and pay well could tie you over for a few months until something better comes up. Just dont let it get you down.

well if your willing to do the hours you could get a decent wage each week. mc donalds normally recruit and pay good money, almost £6 per hour which isnt bad for doing sod all (i worked there) mcdonalds has bad stick as no one wants to be flipping burgers but its not that bad... staff are a good laugh to work with, you egt some weirdo's but who cares? jobs include serving which isnt brain science, each button has a sticker on it, you just press the sticker and take the money. as for cooking, everything is on a timer so thats easy, and cleaning is mopping the floors or blasting the dishes with a hose. none of it was hard work all all, it was just long hours and by the end of it you smell of chip fat and your feet ache, but who cares? £60 for a part days money. you get a free meal as dinner so that cuts down on your food bills each week. then you have bar work in the evenings, either in a pub or a club. i did 10am - 6pm at mcdonalds then 10pm -5am/6am at the club. was a killer but brought in £100 a day. (didnt do this everyday, about 3 times a week) then you have evening work you can do cleaning offices, £6 per hour for hoovering, and thats not hard. you could go down your local gym and ask if there are any jobs, cleaning etc. clean drivers license? then there are hundreds of jobs about from delivering sandwiches to pizza delivery. tesco pay good money for night work shelf stackers. as do all the other supermarkets. if you really want to work you can. there are hundreds of jobs out there. just most people dont like to do it as they think the jobs are 'beneath them' good luck sorting the debt though. as for the debt itself, contact barclays, let them know youve been laid off and that you wish to still make payments. they 'might' renegotiate and make you pay smaller amounts but with higher interest.

Phone them up, explain the situation and ask if they can put a temporary stop on the loan while you sort a new job out.... say give you 3 months without payments (they may even be nice and pause interest but that's a golden egg) Contrary to popular belief the banks would always rather have you pay back a loan than go through the court route, so long as you are open and honest with them in explaining the situation (which from the sounds of it is totaly outside your control) they are 99% of the time willing to help. The sooner you make the call though the better, whatever you do don't wait untill you've missed a few payments and then phone them.
