why do people cry when their team gets relegated??
-
11 May 2008 23:13
seriously, why? they can still go to watch their team every week in the lower division its surely not that important to their life in fact, they should be celebrating really as the chances are their season tickets will be cheaper the following season - plus they are likely to win more games in the lower division why do people cry?? why? kids i can probably understand - but grown men bawling in the stands

Because it means that much to them.....

I guess football means that much to some people. At QPR we are immune to dissapointment and relegation woes.

But then again Spirit Guide, relegation is something you don't need to worry about at Arsenal is it?.

well, after playing so well this season we had some disappointment at the end - but i would never dream about crying over it even if we ever did get relegated i wouldnt cry - only difference it would make to me is that instead of watching highlights saturday night i'd be watching them sunday morning on itv i just cant see why

I used to work with a guy,(in his 50's),who was a die hard England supporter. He went to every England game, home and away.He went to the world cup in Japan etc..I could imagine him being very upset over England failing to qualify for Euro 2008 as the England football team plays such a big part in his life.

yeah but said fans can still travel up and down the country - just replace the emirates and old trafford (where the team probably takes a hiding) with vicarage road and bramall lane (where the team may not get a thrashing)
Week 5 Squat = 62.5kg Deadlift = 40kg Incline Bench = 35kg

People support their team. They want their team to do well and want to see them improve all the time. When they see the opposite of this happen, it can upset them Whether they cry or not depends on their nature I guess. Personally I get angry and annoyed. Others may feel miserable and despondent This is all very obvious straightforward stuff. So I guess you are asking: why do people cry? I don't know the answer to that, it seems to be a normal human social response when bad things happen

no, i can understand annoyance etc but its just the crying that gets me only people who i suppose i can understand crying are shareholders - because the relegation directly affects their pockets but fans, cant see it

I was having a barbie today, but went inside to watch the last 15 minutes of the Man U game, and at the end when they went around the grounds they showed a young boy at Birmingham who was crying his eyes out.His mum had him in his arms.I felt sorry for him as his team had just won 4-1,their best result this seson i think, and still got relegated. Then i laughed.

I think its because they feel they are gonna be left out of something, and they are leaving something and the emotion on the day of everyone around them. Or maybe they cry because they feel gutted for the players. Do you reckon if you were at an Arsenal match on the last day of the season and they were relegated, you would cry? I think i probly would if united were and i was at the ground. But then again if i was at home i might not cry but be very pissed off. I guess its hard to say until you have been in the situation.

i was having a good chuckle at the reading fans crying... you win 4-0 and its a great result... probably your best result of the season too, yet this was the only game i have seen them put in 100% if they played like that all season they wouldnt be going down

People have huge gaps in their life, and need a bit of passion somewhere I suppose. I was releaved when Reading, my home town went down because that saves alot of nerves when my beloved Spurs play them and I face a bit of pointing and laughing from my Reading fan buddies if they beat us

This is something i have been thinking about for a while, not just the crying but the whole emotional attachment to football. For example why if the team i am supporting loses do people text me saying bad luck, i have not had anything to do with the result, it does not affect my life, etc. I do follow football but it just doesnt rank high in my life so its something i just dont understand, same as people crying when they do down!
