I'm just curious...is protein vital to build MUSCLE or not. Would you gain muscle if you did'nt have any protein at all just your workouts (inc = bence press etc) every saturday and ate about 2500 kcals a day?

Of what Lard?? Of course it's good and one presumes from the 2500kcals a day some is protein. I'm not sure that 2500 is enough but then you might be a midget.

No, protein is needed for growth and repair.

You also need protein for other processes in the body other than muscle growth and maintenance, such as healthy hair, nails, organ health, etc...

No, you dont need protein, in fact, if you eat protein and work out, youre muscles will shrink and youll get smaller.

Its best to lots of white carbs, potatoe, rice, bread, thatll get you big. Crisps are pretty good too for bulking, mars bars will make you hench as well.

the next logical question is does actually lifting the weights help build muscle or is just staring at them hard and imagining lifting them enough to build muscle.

Seriously......? dairy products, meat, fish, nuts, seeds, pulses and grains. It's harder to avoid protein that to not get it I would say
