This comment was in relation to people seeing Scientology as worse than any other religion.
IMO they only think that because Scientology steals money off people. Profiting from the desperate, must thus be seen as far worse than causing death and destruction...if that's the case. Therefore my comment on Communism trumping common sense. If Scientology was free, or even a few hundred yrs old, people would leave them alone.
This makes no sense whatsoever.

Because of this, I think that people are seeing the charging aspect as worst of all - which makes no sense. Surely it's worse to promote war, than it is to ask for a few bob. If you believe it isn't, then I'd see that as communism trumping common sense.
Please can you spell out - in simple terms that even an idiot like me can understand - what exactly communism has to do with attitudes towards Scientology?

Finance has nothing to do with it.
If you want to play the cash card, then how about other religions taxing via proxy; state institute etc.
How many religious wars were fought with taxed money?
I think the reason people have an issue with Scientology, is that it is a work of fiction, and quite clearly so.
Go read a few of Hubbard's old books and you'll see that the idea was an embryo is his earlier pulp.
Or are those works of fiction now perceived to be religious and sacred doctrines/mandates/texts?

that I believe one of the main reasons it's attacked so much is because they charge lots of money, and advancement in the religion is mostly down to paying ever larger sums of money.
if it was free, I believe it'd be attacked less.
What's that got to do with communism?

We're probably coming from the same angle then, and getting wires crossed.
Everytime Scientology is mentioned, the whole Internet explodes in "oooo, evil doers" and it's annoying how they are attacked far more than every other religion, imo, just because it's socially acceptable. Most people don't attack Christianity, Islam, Budism, etc etc....but Scientology is open game. If this post had been 4 pages of an assault on Cat Stevens people would have locked it ages ago...but since it's Tom Cruise...it's fair game for a laugh.
Note: I'm not religious myself, but I see the above as a bit biased.
