I have always had a fairly weak grip and weak hands. This at times causes me to have to fail on exercises such as deadlift, where my muscles are able to lift more weight, but my grip begins to loosen and I have to drop the weight. I used to use gloves with a sturdy wrist wrap, and I decided to try again yesterday. Immediately I was able to do more weight and reps in several exercises just by having a better grip and sturdy wrist, such as in dumbell shoulder press. I know for powerlifting it is detrimental to use these type of gloves, but since I train just for bodybuilding, it will still allow me to lift more weight and thus increase my strength correct? Or will it somehow weaken my grip strength to rely on these gloves? Thanks

1st smith machines now gloves! What nxt; 'Where can I find a squating pad?' Seriously; I see no need for gloves, some need for judicial strap use, and a possible need for wrist wraps to ensure wrist health.

lol... i use straps for deads and some back work as i train forearms seperatly. Back day is to train your back, not to be limited by your forearms gloves? if your not a fan of man hands and prefer callous free soft 'hands that do dishes' feel... look around ebay for some gloves

Well I also don't like my hands getting torn up, which is another reason I use gloves. I mean, when I work at my commercial moving company I wear gloves to protect my hands, why wouldnt I do the same while lifting weights? Call me a wimp I guess

Why make life harder? Gloves all the way, and straps when deadlifting those final two sets!

get a decent pair of wrist supports instead of gloves. I used to use Schiek gloves because of the built in wrist supports, took alot of pressure off my wrists for heavy pressing movements. Now ive got some good wrist supports i never use the gloves. http://www.schiek.com/supports.html

I'm the same as clubber. Tried using gloves, but ultimately don't like them. I use wrist wraps for pressing exercises and lifting straps on back day to help with grip. I train forearms and grip work with biceps.
