i havent installed any software, i just use the maps thing that comes with it. its acurate once its been located by the satelites.
you can input the location you want to go to and it adds a yellow line to the route.
its not as good as something like tomtom but its free :)

takes about 5 mins for the satelites to pick up a good signal though which can get frustrating if your in a rush.
you will need to keep it charging as well as it drains the already crap battery in no time.

I tried to use nokia maps on the N95-1 , and found it totally unusable - getting a fix took so long that is wasn't practical , and even when you had one I found the perfomance rubbish - it seemed impossible to communicate to the device what your destination was - then , if you got past that point the instructions were garbled and sometimes it missed them altogether - I certainly wouldn't have paid the extra for the navigation
However , Nokia have since added AGPS (improving the cold fix time ) but is is still the same old Nokia Maps IMO - not worth the bother . plus if you use the AGPS feature , which is on by default , you are going to run up Data costs

I would recommend running Tomtom on your N95 - SO much better - immesurably better , but you won't be able to use the N95's built in GPS module unfortunately

well worth it IMO though !

agree, ended up buying a external gps for mine and installed tomtom

to be honest though maps was ok with an external gps , just not quite as good as tomtom , all in all i would just buy a stand alone satnav

aye some people say theres are ok, im wondering if there are more than 1 type of chipset in the n95, but mine and another one ive seen where definatley unuseable

5-50 mins to get a gps lock , when going down a motorway it would suddenly think you where going down the opposite carriageway , take an age to actualy find out which direction you where going in ,then swap round to find out you had missed your turn off , so you would have to go back on yourself for the same thing to happen again , had me screeming at it in disbelief

tom tom is good apart from having to have a bluetooth reciever, but on the other hand if you google it then i would not expect to pay for it either

I do.

I use garmin XT.

Its great when navigating, havent had a prob.

Only bad thing I would say is that it literally takes about 5 mins to get a full signal, thats it.
