Next time you up here you can ask Paul as he was the one that convinced me to use it!!! 
The main reasoning behind it is with suicide grip you use the full palm and five fingers to push the weight up, whilst with the traditional grip the thumb and part of the palm is not involved in the process.

I've always done it that way as well . It just feels better and tbo the weight is pushing into your palm and never feels insecure

I just tried suicide grip today just with a plate each side, felt really good, chest is still pumped right now
