Hi,

First time poster here, I have enjoyed reading the threads on the forum.

I am having some trouble with a few things (dissapointments) in my weight training. I always expect to be at least as strong as my last effort. Doing bench presses I have been suffering not being able to do as much as my last go at them. I do them once a week and always the first lift in my training. On my last set (of the same weight as last time) I have found myself only being able to do one less rep as the last time.

Eg.. I finished a week ago on my last rep doing 5x95kg, and the next time I could only manage 4x95kg with zero chance of lifting that last one.

Bicep curls have been the same

Any help would be great.

could overtraining if your lifts are going down when you could lfit them previously.
has your diet changed at all or the time of day that you lift?
if i lift in the morning i'm not a scratch as strong as if i would be training mid afternoon with an extra 1-2 meals consumed prior.

some days you just have a bad day as well... weak as a kitten

so many factors involved.

chin up, take a few days rest IME and ensure your diet and rest/recouperation is not waivering.

As above really .... You'll find (as i do) you can't up your weight week in week out.. Bench for example i will try to add at least 1k every week. But some week's i can't lift for sh17. Then the week after that the same weight will be no problem at all...

It's all part of the game

No mate, 3x8.

Diet is good, train at the same time. But the feedback is great guys, as I train by meself in the home garage I guess reading your comments is reasuring.
I'll stick at it and keep pushing.

Cheers

is that your 1st set you did 4*95kg or last set?

did you eat differently?
have you got a cold etc?
could be over trianed.
you may have just had a excellent week last week.
did you progress on any other exercise in your chest routine?

you can't progress every week.
