in my time i have seen many people getting done-in by the TAG's and riot police, sometimes dads protecting their children but i look at it realistically, if you took your kids to that atmosphere with all the fans drinking all day then there is the chance it may kick off, especially if they are beaten the news (propaganda as ever) showed women with broken noses, etc but anyone on here will tel lyou when you are in a fight situation, and you are tense, the nearest person gets it, i nearly dropped a female the other day as i was close to taking on 3-4 lads and she came up from nowhere in my face the coppers will be the same, if you go down you are not getting up (as that copper nearly found) so they will have just aimed for blue shirts

My question is where were the plastic bullets and tear gas? Whole thing was a joke, Fat Pete is spot on, they had no business being in Manchester without a ticket to the game.

ORIGINAL: Fat Pete I don't understand football so can someone tell me why the hell they were here in the first place the Uefa (a european competition) cup final, it was between Rangers from Glasgow and St, petersburg from Russia and was Held at the Manchester city ground So why do 100,000 + rangers fans come to the city where the game is played when they don't have tickets to see the game. Surely they would be better staying in Scotland and watching it on tv. Less cash spent on travelling = more on booze. Plus you are spared the actual inconvenience of travelling. Surely one tv screen is much like another. Or why not put up a big screen in Glasgow or at the empty Rangers ground ? Why come to manchester just because that happens to where the game is being played ? There was a big screen at Ibrox, there was 30,000 in Glasgow watching it as well. I came down for the day out, soak up the atmosphere and have a full day on the bevvy. Suffereing today right enough

ORIGINAL: Chris M Poor showing from the fans. No excuses for rioting like that. All the other teams in Scotland have excellent reputations for their supporters, Celtic having won the UEFA and FIFA fair play awards when we lost the UEFA cup final a few years ago. To be fair though, given the close proximity of Manchester to Glasgow it was always going to be an excuse for the idiots who would not fork out on a journey overseas to come down and cause trouble. Certainly looks like the minority causing the bother, again. Aye celtic fans just grlorfy the IRA, get planes grounded at cardiff early etc

ORIGINAL: thesundancekid Could it get any better? Justice for football as the "anti football brigade" get a beating and their fans show why no one likes them! They are utter scum and I am just sorry they have to come back up the road! They are an embarrassment and well done to Manchester for putting up with them! As for some of the comments on here lets not mix up Scots fans with these low life! As mentioned above, we took 100,000 fans to Seville in 2003 and their was no trouble! We won an award and supporters clubs were set up by the Spanish fans due to their respect for the Celtic fans! You took about 50,000 to seville so stop exagerating. GOOD TO SEE THE OLD SEVILLE CALCULATOR IS STILL WORKING. You only had no arrests as ethere were so many fans there they couldnt cope. Your fans are that well behaved you have folk invading parks attacking players and refferes getting cracked with coins.

You are clinically insane as well as semi-literate. You're "banging" on about the IRA, an incident where a plane was "grounded" and two minor incidents one about a decade ago. Why? In order to discredit Celtic supporters. Incidentally I wasn't in Seville but I caught the TV and radio broadcasts which all put the numbers between 75000-90000. Can't remember reading about any of them mobbing and rioting.

If I have 14 cans of lager and stab someone, it's ok cos my actions were UTI. Football fans that cause riots need to get a ****ing life. "wahh my team lost".

The third line down is ( or fourth as it shows now), just the way it came out when I copied it lol. Popeye unfortunately not mate, if you lived nearer Manchester I could have maybe got you some close up experience, they`re always looking for victims er I mean voluteers

A big part of the problem was that the final was so close to Glasgow. This gave the illiterate, inbred, unemployable, degenerate dregs of society an opportunity to hop on a train or pile into a car and travel down to Manchester to get steaming drunk in the sun. The kind of people who can't afford to go to football matches as it would infringe on their drink and drugs money. The kind of people who the closest they have came to a game of football is standing in a boozer shouting abuse at a television. The kind of people who are stabbing and slashing their way through life every day anyway, whilst swigging a bottle of buckfast before throwing it at a passing car and then going on to mug a passing couple. Its not a Rangers thing or a Celtic thing, these scumbags, neds and chavs are causing these problems every day in life across Scotland. This would never have happened if the final had been abroad because these scumbags couldnt afford a plane ticket. These people were just horrible bastards who will be up to the same type of behaviour at the weekend and the weekend after that etc. etc.
