If we hadn`t relaxed the drinking laws for you we`d have made a thousand times that in fixed penalties and fines . John one of the things that annoys me is the fact that the laws were changed in the first place, on Saturday now there`ll be lads given fines for quietly going about with a can in their hand in the street, sneaking up an alleyway to have a slash or dropping litter, on Wednesday it would have been OK. Btw there are still Rangers fans in the City center now p1ssed out of their heads making fools of themselves.

Don`t see what difference that makes Plug, it`s not an anti-Scottish thing, I`d hazzard a guess the majority of Man United fans arrested don`t have Manchester addresses but the fact remains the same, it`s the club they follow.

The problem was that Rangers managed to get to the final when it was being played in Britain, it opened up the flood gates for every f*cknut from all over Britain to go to the game. Another problem is the old English attitude that does not believe or does not want to believe that 2 clubs from lowly Jockland carry a bigger support than all your clubs apart from 1 maybe 2.

That makes no sense mate. No other clubs or were involved it was just Ranger fans. Englands attitude you speak of was non-existant, we welcomed the fans and they turned on us for no reason. I'll say it again... read the 1st post. A female out shopping has nothing to do with football and has doesn't give two hoots how much bigger support was from lowley Jockland than any support in clubs in England. Why do football roughyens just stick to beating up yourselves? Leave everyone else out of it, pick up your sh!t.

Totally agree that people out shopping should be left to alone but we all live in the real world, I know what I expect to happen when there is a large crowd of guys gathered especially football fans. I aint trying to back up these idiots but did it really surprise you some of them behaved like that?

Yes, TBH it did surprise me mate. We have 2 failry big local clubs, Man City and Man United. When these 2 teams play each other they are arch enemies you can imagine the pubs are heaving, streets near by are full lot's of people about. People pass the City ground every day as it's on a main road to the city centre and people pass the United ground on the way to the Trafford Centre (a big indoor shopping centre) and they get similar numbers of people walking down the street yet none of them have ever flicked beer or tried to throw a bottle at the car. My GF got off lighty, other peoples cars got wrecked, shops were smashed, people beat up... the arrests in reality should have been in there thousands. We have been passed United ground and people take there time crossing the road even when cars are coming but not much more happens, even on derby day they don't riot, trash cars, leave littered urine soaked streets etc. We had visitor from all over durin the commanwelth games and nobody was anything like these Rangers fans. Football fans just think they can do what they want (so on a normal level I wouldn't have been surprised). Rangers fans took this totally to another level, they are there own breed, taking there frustrations out on people and property just because they happened to be there who were nothing to do with anything. As said, we wecomed the fans, we expected them to enjoy the atmosphere watch a game and go home the next day... we saw no reason to be scared of going out, last thing you expect is to be attacked by people you didn't even consider as a foe we expected them to be friendly I mean they weren't playing a Manchester side or even an English side.

I'm in full agreement with John here, having watched the CCTV that's on the BBC I'm surprised they didn't send in the army to bring the scum back in line. I think I have a new prejudice now, anyone who admits to being a Rangers fan I'll assume to be a violent bastard.

i cant really add a lot to this debate, other then a few points 1) i turned down work that night, not due to fear or whatever but purely for the fact that i didnt want to get my car trashed on my way into, or out of work which i had heard was happenning now this is a second job for me but if it had been my main job i could not have turned down the work, and women on their own in cars were having their cars jumped all over 2) in my time working at pubs near football grounds, in particular manchester derbies i have witnessed united or city fans wearing the other teams colours to get into a pub, a large number of them then pulling off a united/city top to start a rumble in the middle of 4000 city fans 3) plug - gunchester was the 1990's mate get with the programme

I was speaking to a couple guys I know from years back, nutters with a long history of football violence, that it was casuals at the root of it all. They said that Chelsea and Rangers casuals had arranged before hand to have a rammy with Man United casuals and they would all be kitted out in Rangers colours to blend in. I was a bit puzzled beforehand watching other news channels like CNN, euro news and Real Madrid TV, that there was running battles between Rangers fans. It also explains some of the violence on the police as these guys also, no pun intended, get a kick out of assaulting police. There is also plans for more fights in Moscow but I somehow cant see the Russian police being ill prepared and unwilling to knock the **** out the lot of them.

The difference being that the casuals already charged with football violence will not be able to leave the country for this game whereas Manchester had no restriction for them.
