I have a feeling Ive just been had on ebay and don't know wtf I should do about it

It was for item number: 120261909786‏

Item title "BRAND NEW NOKIA N95 8GB UNLOCKED WARRANTY BLACK"

I can't even remember what the fking seller was called now. The item number aparently, according to ebay "has been removed or is no longer available." and they say "If the listing was removed by eBay, consider it cancelled."

I bought it through fking ebay and its not even showing up in my ebay! there's absoloutely no trace of it what so ever. Nothing under items won, nothing in the items being watched, as I was watching it also.

The phone was listed in USD. The guy had 30 of them apparently and was selling them for $400.00 USD each (equates to roughly £205) plus $19.99 postage (£10) for "first class international" or something

Now, in the description the guy says nothing about how payment is accepted, just had the normal paypal bit at the bottom and it all appeared fine, all beit, the description was a bit off looking and a couple of people had emailed asking if they were genuine, to which the guy replied yes etc. I even asked him, infact fk it, I'll post up the whole email convo, as in his description he asked people interested to email him direct for a quicker reply

here it is, (ive edited personal stuff for obvious reasons)... its back to front aswell!

Excellent, thanks. Ive just bought one on ebay and will leave to go to the western union agent in a minute. If possible, would you be able to send out the phone today, as I'd really need it here by Friday.

The address to send it to is

yep I gave him my name and address too

Thanks a lot

You can also take pounds to the western union agent.
Delivery as soon as payment is confirmed. Meanwhile you complete the payment, reply with your details where to send the package.

Let me know

Hi, OK cheers. Regretfully I don't have £410.00 GBP in cash on me, so will only be ordering one of the phones at $400.00 USD.

I do not have any US Dollars, so I assume the converted equivalent in GB Pounds sterling would be ok to take to the western union agent? This is approx £205.00 GBP + £10.00 GBP for postage = £215.00

Thanks again.

Thanks for the fast reply. So it is the 8gb internal memory n95?

Sorry for all the questions mate, just want to be sure as theres so many cheap copies on ebay at the mo.

One last question, actually 2! Would it be possible to order more than one of these phones? If I were to buy 2, would you be willing to do a deal?

Lastly, would paypal be acceptable as payment?

Thanks a lot

Hi,

This is just an email regarding the nokia N95's you have for sale on ebay. I have read that they are genuine and 100% authentic n95's from Finland.

Are they unbranded? I trust the full spec of the phones you have are exactly the same as other n95's on ebay and come boxed, sealed and complete?

Also, if I were to buy and pay now, how long would I expect to have to wait before I receive the phone?

Many Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you

Regards

thinking everything was fine and as I've never paid using a western union money transfer before, I scooted off into town, down to the agency, handed over fking £247.00 (not the £215 I was expecting - not realising there was going to be a fee) and after having to fill in this form and another one, warning, funnily enough against things like this, it clicked. I said this to the guy at the counter as he had the forms in his hand, processing them and he carried on regardless and was quick enough to hand me my change and tell me its too late, the pr1ck and to take it up with the seller.

Got home and now nothings coming up on ebay, there's no history of the transaction and nothings even coming up in my history.

I haven't repled to the guy yet to say whether I have sent the payment through, as I thought I'd se what you guys had to advise first as I'm pretty stuck and have no idea what to do next.

Sorry its a bit of a long one, but any help guys please, would be ace

thanks

With Western Union though, they have to have someone collect it at the other end, i.e. the other branch.

Might be worth getting in contact with the shop you went in and see when, who, and where it has been collected, and by.

Possibly make a big fuss about it too at the Western Union where you have been.

State that you want to know the exact details of the guy that has claimed it, his address, etc...

Kick up a fuss.

It's gone and Western Union will be useless. eBay pretty much tell you never to pay via Western Union. It was a con and you got done. Email eBay and ask if you need confirmatiom.

as said DO NOT tell the seller the money is there to be picked up.

if anything ask for a phone number to ring him on. then say on the phone the money is there but you want to phone sending out before you tell him the transaction number.

thats if you really want the phone, if you just want as much money back as possible then leave it a few days and go and cancel the transaction.

with things like this its always best to put a security question on it, this way the seller can go and check the money is there then send the goods, once recieved he can have the answer to security question and get his money.

you're not fcuked by a long shot, just looks like you may have just had an expensive lesson.

I would never use WU for money transfers on Ebay. As a company, you will probably find them hard to deal with re getting your money back. In my experience they do not cooperate willingly with investigations. Whilst Id has to be shown to collect money, scammers like this use fake id/identity theft to do so.

Maybe even e-mail the seller and tell him that you haven't been able to take the cash down to the Western Union branch yet.

so the guy would need a transaction number to collect the money? i.e he couldn't just go in and pick it up?
