I have just started cutting on monday and have been doing 20-40 mins skipping at home. I do it on 1cm mats with shoes and socks on but everyday the shins splints have been getting more painfull. Anything I can do as I want to keep on skipping? I don't really have time to go to the gym just to run on a machine and I don't like the idea of jogging round my area. What I have been doing so far is shadow boxing/squat jumping when it gets painfull enough that I have to stop. I then go back to skipping. This can only be making things worse though. Any other steady rate cardio ideas? Anything I can do to make the shin splints less painfull? Thanks

I started jogging since Monday and started getting them. However, speed walking actually seems to work okay and doesn't aggrevate it. If you have access to a stationary bike then that would help.

I would using a type of exercise that doesn't cause pain, then later SLOWLY get back into the rope work possibly using better footware

forgot to ask, are you flat footed? As they are more likely to get shin splints (according to my doc.)
