I have just started cutting on monday and have been doing 20-40 mins skipping at home.

I do it on 1cm mats with shoes and socks on but everyday the shins splints have been getting more painfull.

Anything I can do as I want to keep on skipping?

I don't really have time to go to the gym just to run on a machine and I don't like the idea of jogging round my area.

What I have been doing so far is shadow boxing/squat jumping when it gets painfull enough that I have to stop. I then go back to skipping. This can only be making things worse though.

Any other steady rate cardio ideas?

Anything I can do to make the shin splints less painfull?

Thanks

I started jogging since Monday and started getting them. However, speed walking actually seems to work okay and doesn't aggrevate it. If you have access to a stationary bike then that would help.

I would using a type of exercise that doesn't cause pain, then later SLOWLY get back into the rope work possibly using better footware

Ive had shin splints for a few years now (i can feel em now), went to the doctors last week and she said i have got Periostitis , she prescribed some ibuprogen gel that i have a apply 2 twice a day, no effect yet but will give it a few more weeks. She did say i shouldnt do any running at all though, , i tried skipping a few days back but could still feel em.

One tip, is too stretch your calves for about 20-30 seconds, that worked for me while playing football but they came back after a few week.....

forgot to ask, are you flat footed? As they are more likely to get shin splints (according to my doc.)
