Believe it or not I don't think this thread has been moderated like that, wysi, it's managed to make no sense all on it's own

ORIGINAL: Osagi quote:
I take your coment on board Roots mate however with regards the way your thread turned out I hope the fact that you weren't actually banned despite many members suggesting that's what action should be taken didn't go unnoticed / unappreciated. No of course not, though it is a shame i was out for the duration of the original 'duffy' thread until it was locked as i may have had more chance to explain/apologise, i do feel that the original action taken - the editing of the thread and addition of a poll was a little unfair, and had instead been posted a simple comment or PM explaining why you were unhappy with the thread i would have happily apologised and edited my thread accordingly. Hard as it may be to believe i honestly was unaware that the nature of my original post and the 'would you' comment was considered unacceptable. the reason i was unaware that posts/comments of this nature were unacceptble is because in the time since i have joined i have partaken in many threads that this sort of banter went unnoticed and reading the eddie182 threads on reflection reminded me of this. in these threads some very crude comments, on a par if not worse than those posted in my thread went by without objection. I understand i may have missed a crackdown on such behaviour and this is another reason i feel the original action taken in the 'duffy' thread was a little OTT. quote:
The reason you weren't banned being due to the fact that you claimed that you didn't realise the comments in your post broke any forum rules and on realising your mistake you appeared 100% apologetic, hence we decided to cut you some slack and let the matter rest. After that we allowed you to restart your discussion in a similar topic and me and you had a nice little debate about musical tastes showing there was no hard feelings whatsoever on my / our part. no hard feelings and i was being 100% apologetic. i understand my little outburst in this thread would contradict that somewhat and for that i again apologise, as i have said it was upon reading eddie's threads that i began to feel a little cheated and allowed myself to have a little moan when really i should have kept it to myself or e-mailed you personally quote:
So you've been treat quite fairly really, despite claims made by certain parties (not yourself I should add) that you were dealt with too harshly and the mods (especially myself) were nothing more than a bunch of power crazed bullies. However please let myself or one of the mod team know if you still carry any issues or gripes from what occured the other day so that we can sort any misunderstandings and put any probems that might taint your enjoyment of the forum to bed. i appreciate you taking the time to reply to me when really it should have been approaching you in a more formal way and again i apologise for my comments in this thread. I guess my main gripe may be the double standards that seem to appear at times. 1. with the crude behaviour being let to run around the time i joined and up to a few weeks ago and then me being, imo a little harshly, ticked off when i displayed the same. 2. with eddie's girl threads (i understand there were porbably too many) being discouraged and locked when many members enjoyed his posts (silly i know, though eddie himself never came across as rude or crude) and therefore i was warning frankenjim that this thread being of the same nature may not be appreciated. i understand moderating the board must be a hard and labourious task and i have admiration for the job all the mods do therefore i can understand how me saying 'double standards' is one thing and actually trying to keep the balance/enjoyment for everyone is very much another. with this in mind i guess had it not been for the imo excessive action taken against me in the duffy thread i would have let it lie. lastly, i do enjoy the board and am honestly not here to cause drama and as i have said admire the job the mods do. hence my simple apology in the new 'duffy' thread, whereas infact had i been more mature about it i would have sent a polite e-mail to yourself explaining my feelings rather than act a little childishly in here. Roots. FAO frankenjim, i really do apologise for running a muck in your thread

I don't think you've acted childishly at all Roots mate and there really is no need to keep apologising (so stop it ) If it means anything it was actually some of the overly crude responses made by other members in your original thread that prompted me to take the action I did rather than your original 'would you' comment which it it had been left at that I most probably would have ignored. However I couldn't very well pull these other members up for their transgressions without also rapping you on the knuckles for your original post which served to open the door for these other member's responses. And of course the other thing i was trying to do with that thread is to make an example, hence the reason why I added the poll and invited members to demonstrate just how much these sort of posts annoy them. I could have simply locked the thread and requested a ban for all those members I felt applicable, but that then may have been seen as a mod abusing his power. However by inviting other members to vote / comment it served to demonstrate that these types of discussions are actually frowned upon by a good majority of members and not just the mod team / board owners. So that thread could have been dealt with in a number of ways and like you say it's always a difficult task deciding the best way to handle these things. However you yourself have emerged quite well from that thread and handled yourself in a pretty respectful manner, which is great as I don't actually want to see you banned as you seem pretty sound. unfortunately I don't think everybody learned their lessons from that thread (as demonstrated by a certain member in this thread, mentioning no names ) which means we still may need to look at removing certain members (queue the abuse of power / Osagi the bully threads ) Osagi

I do feel much happier now having got it off my chest, silly how things bottled up can affect ones mood! and in future i will be sure to e-mail a mod if i am unhappy with a situation after the understanding and polite responses from yourself resolving this issue. quote:
(queue the abuse of power / Osagi the bully threads ) wow! impressive prediction!! however doen't look like it has really took off, unless you were the one who kicked tuc biscuit's dog Roots.

Basically this thread can be sumarised like so... FJ goes out on a date, MT en masse demands pics, Yiddo gets shirty, Bigdawg is his usual articulate self, Welshy calls someone 'dude' and Roots & Osagi partake in a bit of Brokeback Mountain inspired loving Not bad as threads go actually

Cheers for the support on my threads roots. I stopped making them for a couple of reasons: 1) James asked me to, and Kitty was getting angry/scary with her replies so I decided to bail 2) A few members on here (I wont mention names), started being nasty to me in my threads so I thought that rather than keep getting abuse i'd stop making them. Sorry to the guys who enjoyed the updates tho.
