Is one exercise for 4x6, or 5x5 enough for each muscle group?

Been looking at different routines on here and that seems to be a popular methode for mass. I've been training for just over a year and make my routines up from magazines and what i read on here, but it would seem that alot of theseroutines are aimed at people on gear and are seriously over training. is this right?

So a routine like this would be ok for mass?

Monday

Deadlift 4x6
Bent over row 4x6
Barbell Curl 4x6

Wednesday

Bench press 4x6
Incline db press 4x6
Overhead press 4x6
Close grip Bench press 4x6

Friday

Squat 4x6
SLDL 4x6
Calf Raise 3x12
weighted crunches 3x6-10

I got this from:

Think I'm just stuck in the mind set more = BIGGER

this is how i looks at it, bodybuilders wanna be lifting within the 4-10(maybe 12) rep range for no more than 5 sets, so whats the difference in doing another exersice which works the same muscles fpr more sets is the same as doing 10 sets lol, as long as your using compounds 4 sets of one exercise is very sufficient.

How do you mean it might not be optimal?

for mass people prefer to lift in slightly higher reps.more 6-15 rather than 4-6.
not saying you will not gain mass with 4-6

As a begginers routine it is good but I would still do a warm up set or 2
