I think this is disgusting behaviour by those in the forces or those who used to be.

IMO, its like shooting your own team member or even a family member (well, i call them a family member because they are essentially watching your back and can actually save you, same goes for vice versa, sometimes they might even take a bullet for you).

The forces are already under equipped as they are but yet these guys decide to instead help their fellow men, make a quick buck and put guns on the streets of civilians.

There is corruption all over the place - it just so happens that when a corrupt individual is in the army with access to weapons , then weapons will get out - Just as a corrupt Tesco's worker will sell blue stripy baked beans to his mates on the cheap - exactly the same thing , although obviously a huge stigma attached due the the potential ramifications.

To expect corruption not to occour in sensitive areas such as this is futile - not saying it is right by any means , but you are always going to get it

Indeed but why do the army lads have to be a supplier for even 1 of those weapons.

Essentially, what they are doing is disarming their team member / unit of a weapon which potentially can take down 'x' number of enemies per bullet in a weapon.

When I read it, I just though FFS, thats your own team player / bro who youre making worse off.

As above, I dont have any knowledge for what happens around the army lifestyle, , currently serving, ex forces, media portrayal etc. so my comments are just coming from the article (which as of course, i know not to believe 100% as its the standard media story).

I believe that guy stole an SA80 too but really at the end of the day its only one pistol from a base in scotland not likely to see any imediate action is it? Still wrong of course and he deserved what he got.


You know what im' going to say, if firearms were legalised and controled properly then criminals might think twice about running around with weapons if they know some law abiding civs are armed.

I disagree , other than the ramifications involved (as I already pointed out) the principle is the same , corrupt employess taking advantage of their postion of trust to make a few quid for themselves
