Yes but this incident pales into significance/minority when you look at the amount of servicemen and women who have died for their fellow comrades in Iraq…Death Toll and why should they feel a loyalty when the government that they work and die, and fight ill equip for panders to this Comp Pay Out and does nowhere nears as much for British Troops families!
These guys get enough bad press as it is, without us encouraging it…..IMO before moaning about our troops, go to the root cause!

my old flat mate was in bomb disposal, he used to sell all sorts of gear.
loads of stuff that was meant to be destroyed went out the back door.
same as near southend we have a destruction facility that gets rid of the weapons... with the people i know that work there i can get bullets, grenades, all sorts of stuff, just cant get guns.
"someone" let a flashbang off down southend seafront once, we just thought it would make a little bit of noise and a flash. FOOK ME was i wrong.
massive bang and a huge flash, shook the windows of the casino and set all the car alarms off... police were on the scene in mins.
Next there will be a shock revelation about how the army are importing drugs.
Our governments are as corrupt as the mafia, so to hear of a few army lads selling stuff off is no suprise.

I was elaborating on a post made by another member. So therefore does have relevance to the topic being discussed.
We could go around in circles all day regarding this matter, I suggest you brush up on your international Law, then tell me If I stated a fact or belief. Until you do this, I see no point in 'debating'.

Ok, I agree that this is neither the time nor the place. But your reason for bring up such a sensitive subject is exceedingly shakey. I think you should refrain from voicing such opinions here unless you intend to stir.

Not to cause any argument but your statement is only out of making a wad.
My belief is that its simply putting a weapon on the street that will inevitably use to injure or god forbid, kill someone over criminal activity. Not only this, but they also take a weapon away from another soldier.
Now, because there are less weapons, more money would be needed in order to manufacture or buy more of them, guess who pays for it, you and I.
for the tesco scenario, it simply is taking a few pence out of tescos profits, thats about it really, the only difference is, itll put the prices up a few more pence.
i seriously do not think they are the same but as of course, each to their own.
Its what I think anyway.

Yup if people learn to use them responsibly then i think the crime would go down I certainly don't think it would get much higher, it needs properly controled and regulated however.

I believe that with proper licencing, background checks, mental, physical and psyciatric tests, training on safety, handling etc and a test to pass at the end of it before you geta full gun licence(perhaps a proby licence only letting you keep your weapong at a registered club until you pass)
This way people might take up shooting responsibly, might make criminals think twice. It shouldn't really affect gun crime rates anyway if its properly enforced, after all handguns and most other firearms are banned yet you still hear of shootings. Most gun crime was commited with illegally obtained firearms before the ban and has continued after.

IMO, criminals would just break into houses of the 'qualified' individuals to steal their guns.
then youd get an increase of burglary, not only that, but the so called 'qualified' people who own a gun may not have the guts to shoot someone or shoot someone with confidence.

I'm not sure how anything you suggest would lead lowered gun crime, but I guess this is not the time, place or thread to discuss it. Sorry, I probably shouldn't have asked in the first place. Thanks for your response though - it satisfied my incurable noseyness if nothing else!

Yes, sorry about that. I partly wasn't sure how well it deviating off into a discussion on the politics of gun control would be received, but mostly I'll put my hands up and admit that I'm absolute knackered and I'm not fit to continue! I thought it only fair given that I started to draw the conversation that way to own up! Another time maybe?
