Best plan for specific goals - May 17 2008 10:45:59

Hi

I am entering a competition through work (nothing too serious) and I am looking for some tips.

On Wednesday I will have the following 5 measurements taken.

Resting heart rate, aerobic capacity, flexibility, lung capacity and BMI.

I then have 8 weeks to improve these as much as possible.

I am 6"3 and around 16 Stone. I have a lot of bodyfat and very little muscle. I have really let myself go so I am desperate to do well in this competition and then continue it on from there into trying to build muscle.

So as I said if anyone has any advice for me it would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Thats what I was thinking, with the weights I assume 8 weeks isnt enough to build much muscle? I think this would go against me in the BMI measurement.

at 16 stone if your mostly bodyfat i would go for fatloss not muscle gain, heavy weights aid fatloss just as much as muscle gain

Hi

I have been doing ok on this so far. Lost over a stone in weight and my clothes are falling off me.

Couple of questions.

They tested my grip strength using a hand held thing I had to squeeze as hard as I could. So I need to increase this strength as much as possible. Any ideas? what about this http://www.thegripmaster.co.uk/?gclid=COXVpfaB7JMCFQyvQwodEDy3zA
Would be ideal if I could get something that measures my strength at same time but I assume these would be expensive.

Also they actually tested my body fat on one of those rubbish handlebar machines. Does anyone know how these things work? Looking to minimise my reading on it. Would that mean starving for 24 hours lots of water, no water???
