Realistically, what effect will getting drunk once a week do to your gains, providing you can still follow your diet the next day?

I imagine it would depend on what you drunk and how much you drunk. Also, make sure you do it before a non-training day so you don't waste that day.

A few Whiskies and Diet Coke's won't do much harm IMO.

12 pints of Stella on the other hand........

8 pints of stella once a week, with the next day being a non training day, with the diet in check for the next day?

Lower protein synthesis, ruins sleeping patterns, far too many calories. If you are serious about it then cut back the drink. Its all about degrees in my opinion and enjoying yourself. Not that I drink though

That's a fair bit of empty calories there mate. What's a Stella?,around 200 calories?.A shot of Spirits is about 50,plus 0 for the Diet Coke. But if you were on a bulk i suppose you could get away with it.

What's straight Whiskey like as far as calories are concerned? I tend to go through a lot when I go out on the town, I never thought it might affect my weight-loss.

So 30 shots is worth 1500 calories?! Holy ****, that's a big dent in my training for one leg-less night out on the town. Going to seriously reconsider things, cut down to 10 or so.

2 to the max, thankyou for starting this thread!

yeah plus you forgot to mention the fact it raises GOOD TIMES lol

Who cares really mate? It's your life and you need a balance, if everything you enjoyed affected your gains, would you stop?

It is not going to affect them to the point where you would grow noticeably without it IMO.

Just crack on, but keep a check on yourself

1 piss up a week is a good balance IMO.

It up to you mate, so what if it possibly effect your gains, you want to go out and have a laugh don't you. Unless you are a competive bb'er then it does not matter.

30 shots.. That's 45-100 quid depending on where you are. I normaly just down a bottle of Jack Daniels with diet coke. Downing this much in a min or two and it hits your head fast. Then the odd beer or shot once your in there. 10-20 quid.

I found as I got more serious about my training I tend to go out once a month, twice max.

But like uncle_p states, its all personal preference

It's around £50 where I am, but I never regret a penny. It's spread out over a night and I just dance the night away in a drunken haze with whatever attractive girls I find on the floor, it's great fun! I think cutting down on a night out might not be such a bad idea, though, all things considered! Money-wise, I'll save a lot, health-wise, well obvious benefits to calorie deficits and my liver and I might actually dance less like a dickhead if I'm sobre.

Drinking once a wekk is bad, personally I find 3 nights to be optimum for social acceptance.

Oh not this again.. Drinking from 16 onwards is pretty normal these days. I don't actualy know anyone that hasn't been very drunk from 16-17.

I only drink once or twice a month while all my mates, boys and girls drink one or twice a week..

I think it was more the notion that you drink 700-1000ml of Whiskey in 1-2 minutes pal.
