Push ups will strengthen your chest and crunches will strengthen your abs, do them both if you cant get to the gym, something is better than nothing.

As above ^^
But if you're really only going to do 3 exercises, make them Bench press, squat and deadlift :D

There are loads of exercises you could do to help build some strength in your upper body without the use of a gym.

I would try press-ups normal hands shoulder width apart
feet a couple of feet in the air (on the end onf a bed or something like that) Decline
hands a few feet in the air (incline)
And then do all 3 again it again with hands close together (thumbs touching)
All 3 again arms spread out wide

Dips of the end of any sort of bench or even your bed again

And as for Abs there are loads of different types of sit ups/leg raises/crunches that list goes on and on and on and on.

Depending on what sort of shape your in i would do something like the above morning and night possibly even get a pull up bar and attatch it to your door.

Hope that helps, There really are lots of exercises you can do with no equipment at all might not make you a body builder or a power lifter but if you just want to do some exercise and maybe tone up a bit then thats what i would do.
