The misses is about to go on the pill. Many people go on about using the pill non-stop for about 6 months, stop for a week again and then another. Is this safe and is there any other pointers she should bare in mind?

Depends which type she goes for. Some you need a week break with every month and that's when she will have a period, others you take non-stop. Discuss your requirements with your GP.

Consult the GP as Kitty said. People react differently to differnt ones. I have had bad experiences with some and very good with others. Just be carefull of side affects! I had some bad ones.

Yes I did, was great in once sense but put on loads of weight!

ive been on it about 6 weeks, i havent put on any weight in fact my clothes are falling off me, but my sex drive isnt what it was...i wasnt sure if its the implant or if its cos i just had a baby....i got my mind on her...

I used to have the implant, it didn't affect my sex drive at all but after about 2 years it started disagreeing with me.

My periods went from nothing to heavy bleeding every few weeks, really bad mood swings and I piled on the weight.

I had it taken out though and within a month or 2 went back to normal

Was thinking of starting a thread regarding implanon until I stumbled across this one. I had the implanon fitted in January after being on the depo injection for almost 15 years. i went on the depo due to periods being heavy and suffering migrains. Well low and behold in April my periods started again after nothing for the last 15 years, Jesus in a row boat it was like being a 13 year old girl again. Almost had to phone my mum.. lol!

Anyway, April they started and we are now getting close to July and they still haven't stopped. Constant spotting. Zilch sex drive and frequent migraines. Went back to see the practice nurse. At the time of fitting I was advised that things can take up to 9 months to settle, but I don't know how much longer I can do this for. Ive now also been put on the pill in addition to implanon in order to get my periods in check.

I think I have gotten to the stage where I'm just thinking RIGHT THATS ENOUGH!!!! (in my best growlly voice)...... Too many chemicals!

The main reason I came off the Depo was due to the length of time I had been on it and the increased risk of oesteoporosis. One thing is certain and that is to get caught pregnant at this moment in time would be the worst possible thing to happen to us and therefore I am reluctant to just use condoms due to their unreliable nature.

All in all I'm thinking I will give the implanon til September to sort itself out and then I think I will get it removed.

Anybody know of reliable methods that dont have serious side effects that dont p*** all over your sex drive. Because as it stands some days I would rather hoover the whole house than have a bit of nookie
