Had excrutiating pain in my groin region yesterday so went off to a n e and the doctor told me i had a hernia and apparantly its going to need an operation. Has anyone else had one and if so how long does it stop you training for ??

I thort I had one a few weeks back but it turned out to be a swollen gland. The doctor said if it was a hernia then I would not be able to train and recovery would take along time as I would have to build the area up over a long period of time. The effected area will always be a weak spot and you may be prone to getting a hernia again.

How did you do it? (you may or may not know)

Could be a product of incorrect form or just bad luck

I had a hernia, and although I am no boxer.

you would want to be doing anything the involved quick movement of the body for at least two weeks.

And depending if you get keyhole or open surgery it may be different. I had open and it was VERY painful for a week.
