Home Gym Build Journal + Home Made Equipment Pics

Hi all, I have got about 7K to spend on my home GYM i am knocking the two sheds down at the bottom of the garden and building a building right across from side to side to make the gym i have wanted for so long. Builders are in next week i will post pics of its progress from then on I work at a steelbar mill and have lots of spare time on my hands so i make stuff for myself at work I have recently made a thing for doing shrugs on, suppose it could also be used for some form of strongman training becuase you can walk with it too like farmers walk type thing Heres the pics, what you think? Bit rough but i made it in 30mins on nights. It is ALOT better for me than dumbells etc for hammering traps.

I take it it`s balanced OK mate ? 7 grand should see you with plenty of change mate I think, I`m making my dipping bars tomorrow, two pieces of wood and four brackets, bracket across the stairs down into the cellar, slot the wood in, sorted and for just over 5 of your English pounds.

Nice 1 mate, lots of thought gone into `frontloading `one lol. Yours reminds me of two guillotines welded together though, something you`re not telling us ?

With £7k I'd buy a prospot Think power rack with a free bar but it's attached to a cable that holds the weight when you let go of the bar rather than pins... so lift off is straight up and down, bar moves free in all directions, when you go to failure you just let go so no need for safety pins. Had a go on one in fitness superstore... they are very good.

INCLINE BENCH LINK That is the type of incline bench i want, but really cant see how they jump from £200 to 700 for this, i could make one like that at work that would be even stronger, just would rather buy them but is there any cheeper of the same design IE with a step behind for the spotter

LINK I supose this could be a good option and save me some space - i was going to have a fixed incline and a fixed flat but this seems a good sturdy alternative what do you think to this brand?

Hi mate, If the equipment doesnt need to be brand new then i know a guy who buys/sells commerical gym equipment. He does sell new stuff too and kit out gyms but you can grab a bargan with the 2nd hand stuff - they are re-furbished and in excellent order. I kitted my own gym out with - Power rack Smith machine cable cross over bicep machine calf raise leg press dipping station leg ext full dumb bell rack 5-55 kg in 5kg jumps Iso-lateral shoulder press (like a hammer strength one) Got alot of oly bars and free weights too (cant remember the price now but it was a quarter the price of it new) His name is Rab Mc Combe and hes from Ballymoney,Northern Ireland although he has a 40ft lorry and does deliveries all over the uk - the name of the business is complete gyms - i'm sure you can find the details if you goggle it. You will need to call him or e-mail him though as he doesnt have the re-furbished stuff showing on his website - if you let him know what you want he can norm get it Hope that helps
