NPA Yorkshire 08 results - 02 June 2008 15:39
Hello All
After a looong weekend I am happy to say the NPA Yorkshire Championships held yesterday at The Frontier Club in Batley were a HUGE success, and I would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way towards that success.
So to all the Judges, Sponsors, Competitors, Helpers, and most of all Audience, I thank you all. It was a big gamble for me to move 'The Yorkshire' away from the popular Civic Hall in Holmfirth, but everyone who spoke to me about the change was happy - The Frontier is a fabulous venue and I have now booked it for the prestigious Mike Williams Classic & Pro-Am which will be held there on Sunday October 5th.
Maybe I'll see you all there for that very important competition.
I also want to praise Andrew Merrifield who gave a sensational guest posing display to open the show - Andrew was in contest shape and looking the way he did was a magnificent gesture on his part - to anyone wanting a guest star who really knows how to put on a show Andrew is the best without a doubt.

Here's the full Yorkshire results -

Well done to all competitors, your efforts are much appreciated.
Next stop the NPA North West on Saturday. See you there!

Didn't know Claire was competing yesterday -well done lady! How many of the Figure girls qualified MJP? And was the Physique lady a lightweight or heavyweight?

Glad it was a successful show

It was the biggest qualifier we have ever had, Flick, with 500 to 600 in the audience so it went very well and had an excellent atmosphere.
The Figure class was an absolute belter and the top 3 will receive invites, as the standard was very high indeed but Heather was a stand out winner and was much improved.

personally i think Carlos should've taken the overall, his waist and V'taper were amazing as for his most musculer pose!

Well done Marius for getting 3rd the day after 6th at the NABBA Mr Britain Novice

Andrew Merrifield looked good definately , the predator routine impressed me nice posing. got his dvd i'll let ya know what its like when i've watched it

The overall was very very close IMO. Carlos looked awesome, as you say, taper beyond words, and during the posedown I kept changing my min between the 2 of them. In the end I was happy in my mind that Gus should take it, as he was displaying that much more size and quality, whilst not actually sacrificing a lot in the way of symmetry, etc. Was class watching them fight around the stage though!

the posedown between marius and gus was awesome in the heavyweights

Marius' legs are unbelievable, loads of mass

Gus got the nod over Carlos by 5 points to 2 - the right decision in my mind, as though Carlos was in fantastic shape with improved legs and amazing mid-section, Gus just had too much mass and rightly won the Overall. His reaction afterwards when he dropped to his knees was great!
Just before that the heavyweight posedown was one of the best I have ever seen - normally I would just give them about 90 secs, then called the music off - but I didn't have the result at that time and they were all having an absolute blast in the posedown, great entertainment.

Marius is a force to be reckoned with once he shifts a few more lbs, awesome size and shape....

Have you got any decent front double bi shots for Gus Michael - his arms were as ever absurd..

And was the Physique lady a lightweight or heavyweight?

Could be another lightweight because a Julie Bradford won the Under 55kgs ladies physique at the UKBFF North West Warrington show recently. Pics are on Rippd Glultes, Gallery, "UKBFF Warrington pics" - lady on the right I think, based on trophy and height. Could be the same competitor?

There's only one photo of ladies physique on the RG site and I am presuming that it's the lady on the left of the photo (white hair, no43????)
